Miami Beach has lost one of its top tourist attractions: the Miami Ink tattoo parlor.

Granted, the tattoo shop created for the popular TLC reality show closed last year at 1344 Washington Ave. when the star artists, Ami James and Chris Nuñez, moved to a new studio up the block, Love & Hate Tattoos.

The show ended a few months later amid strained relations between the stars and Discovery Communications, TLC’s parent.

But the famous Miami Ink sign remained after the duo converted the old studio to a clothing shop.

Fans constantly snapped pictures of themselves in front of the original location, which looked pretty much as it did in the show’s opening credits. Now the Miami Ink sign is gone, the store cleared out and a ”For Rent” placard hangs on the window.

Fans can take some hope, though, in a hand-written sign outside Love & Hate Monday: “Shop closed . . for filming. Thank you, Ami & Chris.”

In an e-mail, James said he and Nuñez are exploring tattoo traditions around the world for a new Travel Channel show, Worldwide Tribe, which will be based out of Love & Hate.

Worldwide Tribe is slated to debut before next summer, said Mike Beale, an executive with the show’s producer, Alchemy TV.

Aww ya i was so sad when miami ink didnt come back. miss watching it every week when it was on. but i understand due to a certain person on another tatoo show that shall remain unnamed ive now kinda banned tlc from my tv. love u guys wish u the best

  3. Tommy says:

I’ll say it.Ami and Nunez, took in a unknown artist by the name of Cat.Which no one knew of,gave her a t.v show that was rocking. Then when she didn’t get her way she left a star! Then tlc wants to give her a show.If i were them i would go to another channel for a show deal.

  4. Biff says:

I hope the guys are able to find a deal with another network. Discovery Network should’ve tried harder to work with them. I watch LA Ink sometimes, but I don’t like it nearly as well as Miami – Kat’s just too…spoiled? self-centered? something……

  5. Sandra Conti says:

I was so disappointed when Miami Ink was no longer on t.v. What get’s me most is that when Kat was on, Miami Ink put this piece of trash on the map, then complained how she hated Miami, and it’s all too unreal to see that now Miami Ink is off the air. I think they should go with Bravo and pick up Miami Ink where TLC left off. Hope to see Ami, Chris, Yoji and the rest of them back on t.v. soon.

  6. Scott says:

I came to this show late, but I liked Ami’s style. I will miss this show and the gusy from the shop, but I will watch whatever they do in the future. I won’t say anything about the “spin-off” other than it’s not in the same league as Miami Ink, Jerry Springer perhaps…

Good Luck to ALL the guys of Miami Ink.

Miami ink is a great serie, I really love kate she is so cool. I hope they will continue it forever:-).

  8. Tattooing is about personalizing the body, making it a true home and fit temple for the spirit that dwells inside it…. Tattooing therefore, is a way of keeping the spiritual and material needs of my body in balance. ~Michelle Delio
