Ricardo Arjona sang his heart out Thursday night, serenading the 11,455 fans who attended the two-hour concert at the American Airlines arena.

The serenade started with “Quinto Piso” (Fifth Floor), a song from his new album by the same name.

As the song played in the background, the musicians and a few actors walked on the stage, which was built to resemble a street. The backdrop was a gigantic video screen displaying a four-floor building or music videos, depending on the song. To the left of the stage was a bar, where musicians got drinks during the night, and to the right, a hair salon.

Arjona made his grand entrance during his second song, “El Del Espejo”. He was wearing dark blue jeans, a white shirt with a vest on top and a black jacket. Half of his shoulder-length hair was pulled up.

He sang about 27 songs, including “Dime Que no”, “El Problema”, “Realmente No Estoy Tan Solo”, “Sin Daños a Terceros” and “Pingüinos en la Cama”.

Between songs, he talked about his love theories. His most controversial: Men invented lies to make women fall in love. The public responded with laugh followed by a nod.

I have to confess, I’ve not always been a fan of his music. It wasn’t until I moved to college that I began to fall in love with him. Slowly.

Six hours on a Greyhound lead to dog of a Deftones concert

By Alejandra Cancino   |  Live Shows  |  July 09, 2009

We were sitting on Jazheel’s bed, feeling defeated: Two $85 tickets to Metallica’s Summer Sanitarium 2003 tour — with Deftones, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit and Mudyvane — and no way to get to Orlando.

Jazheel’s dad was supposed to lend us his car but he changed his mind. Deftones’ Minerva was playing in the background while we figured out what to do next. Read the full story

Los Fabulosos Cadillacs

By Alejandra Cancino   |  Concert Reviews, Music  |  April 13, 2009

los-fab-4

After their seven years apart, the group came together with the same eagerness to please the restless fans, who danced, jumped and screamed through their two-and-a-half-hour performance.
