Fans came out to see groups like Monroeville and the Dillards, and if you’re not quite familiar with the names, then you probably aren’t too deep into bluegrass music.

That music was on full display on Saturday for the first South Florida Music Fest at the Abacoa Town Center Amphitheater in Jupiter.

Also in town were former Shenandoah lead singer Marty Raybon, Donna Ulisse and the Poor Mountain Boys and more.

Video: Motley Crue/Kiss tour to come to Cruzan Amphitheatre

By pbpulse.com Staff   |  Breaking news, Music News, Rock  |  March 21, 2012

When it comes to rock spectacle, few do it like Kiss and Motley Crue. This summer, they’re doing it together.

And this tour is coming to Cruzan Amphitheatre on July 27.

Between the two bands, they have sold more than 200 million albums, and both are known for their incredible stage shows. Kiss raised the bar so high for rock showmanship during the 1970s that bands are still trying to catch up — flashpots, light shows, lasers, platforms, blood, fireworks, Kiss has pretty much done it all.

And Crue has been right there trying to top it. They’ve taken a full-on circus on tour with them, and of course, there’s drummer Tommy Lee’s well-known 360-degree spinning drum platform.

Tickets for all shows, including the show at Cruzan, go on sale Friday at TicketMaster outlets and LiveNation.com. Fan clubs for both bands have a pre-sale beginning today.

This year’s Reach for the Stars ballroom dance competition is going back to an old theme: the media vs. the mayor.

In 2009, West Palm Beach Mayor Lois Frankel took on members of the media and won the event, the highlight of the Kravis Center’s Young Friends of the Kravis benefit. This year, Jeri Muoio, the city’s current mayor, takes on eight local media celebs for the title on April 28 at the Kravis Center’s Dreyfoos Hall.

The media members trying to beat Muoio are:
• Tim Byrd of Palm Beach Live Work Play network
• Shaun M. Castillo of the Sun-Sentinel
• Michael Ehrenberg from CBS 12 News
• Erin Guy, anchor/reporter from WPBF 25 News
• Jeremy Loper from the Loper & Randi Show
• Kait Parker, meteorologist of News Channel 5 and Fox 29
• Jennifer Ross, co-host of the 97.9 WRMF Morning Show
• T.A. Walker from the Mo & Sally Morning Show on KOOL 105.5 FM

Singer Jason Derulo was forced to cancel his tour after fracturing his neck during rehearsals Thursday, according to AllAccess.com.

Derulo, who was touring in support of his new second album, Future History, missed a landing during rehearsal and suffered an acute fracture of a vertebra. CNN reports the singer will have to wear a neck brace during the next few months.

“To all my fans who planned to come to the Future History world tour, the pain of letting you down cuts me way deeper than this injury I’ve sustained,” Derulo said in a statement release by Warner Bros. Records. “My fans mean everything to me, so I’m praying for a speedy recovery in order to perform for you in the near future.”

Derulo had just performed a successful set on New Year’s Eve at Miami Beach’s Orange Drive Music Festival, mere miles from where he grew up in Miami.
