Pizza, pasta and more available at Tommy’s Pizzeria in Jupiter

By Sy ONeill   |  Dining  |  April 20, 2012

MENU

Everything you want in a pizza shop is here, from the signature pies to a long list of hot and cold subs. Appetizers range from buffalo wings and chicken tenders to sliders with French fries. Several salads are available. Pasta dishes and desserts round out the menu.

ATMOSPHERE

It’s a small pizza shop in a strip mall, geared mostly for take-out orders, though there are a couple tables for customers wishing to dine in or outside.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

We couldn’t go to a pizzeria without ordering a pizza! Our large pie ($12.75 for 16-inch) was topped with green peppers and onions ($2 extra per topping). The crust was thin, the way we like it, but it could have used a few more minutes in the "authentic New York style brick oven" to crisp up. Toppings were generous. I also sampled the eggplant sub ($7.95) and found it very tender and tasty. Our only disappointment was that there was no tiramisu that night.

Harbour Bay accommodates families, taste buds, wallets

By Sy ONeill   |  Restaurant reviews  |  July 01, 2009

Harbour Bay Gourmet

MENU

The lunch menu offers a variety of deli sandwiches, including roast beef, corned beef and tuna salad. Grilled sandwiches are a house specialty and include pastrami and chicken breast. Other options include hamburgers, rotisserie chicken and salads – including a “classic” Caesar that can be ordered with marinated chicken breast or blackened tuna fillet.

ATMOSPHERE

Very casual and neighborhood-friendly. It seemed that the servers knew everyone. Our waitress asked us if we were new in town!

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

The soup of the day was roasted red pepper and Gouda. We couldn’t resist the combination and each ordered a cup ($4.50). It was creamy and delicious. My husband ordered one of the house specialties, a grilled “Sara” ($8.25) stuffed with turkey, cheese and cole slaw with Russian dressing. He asked for rye bread instead of sourdough, and the kitchen was happy to accommodate. For dessert we each enjoyed a scoop of heavenly gelato ($3.75).

REASON TO GO

There’s a trio of reasons: the cafe, the bakery and the wine shop!

SERVICE

Our waitress was friendly and attentive.

NOISE LEVEL

A busy hum filled the cafe, as diners chatted during their lunches.

KID FRIENDLY

There is no menu for the younger set, but there were several children enjoying meals with their parents.

Traditional Italian dishes exceed expectations for Carrabba’s chain

By Sy ONeill   |  Dinner, Italian, Restaurant reviews  |  June 23, 2009

MENU
Italian dishes are featured here, traditional favorites such as lasagna, spaghetti and pizza. Specialties include beef, chicken and seafood.
ATMOSPHERE
Dark wood and low-level lighting make for a cozy atmosphere. Seating is at booths and tables.
OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE
Pollo caprino ($16.50) was one of the evening’s specials and I couldn’t resist : chicken breasts stuffed with caprino cheese, roasted red peppers and zucchini, topped with Marsala sauce and served with roasted vegetables. The meal exceeded my expectations with a wonderful mix of flavors highlighted by the rich, dark Marsala sauce. I chose a cup of Mama Mandola’s Sicilian chicken soup rather than a salad . It was spicy — but not excessively so — and full of chicken, pasta and vegetables.
REASON TO GO
You can try to snag a seat at the counter overlooking the kitchen and feel like you’re in the center of the action.
SERVICE
Our server, Richard, was excellent. He kept our water glasses full, checked on us and expertly packed our leftovers.
NOISE LEVEL
We arrived slightly before the dinner crowd, so the restaurant was fairly quiet. But as we were leaving, there was a moderate hum of happy diners.
KID FRIENDLY
There’s a menu , along with highchairs and booster seats.
