I’m fairly sure that in all of the “Sex and the City” episodes I’ve watched, I never saw Carrie Bradshaw bake an apple cobbler. And this is why, even though I lack her apartment, “Vogue” connections or teeny tiny sample size body, I am superior to Carrie Bradshaw in something.

Doncha wish your cobbler was hot like me?

Doncha wish your cobbler was hot like me?

This is one of the two delicious desserts that my new diet won’t allow me to eat that I made, from scratch, for the Celebrity Bake Off to benefit the Mental Health Association tomorrow at Nick and Johnnie’s, 207 Royal Poinciana Way on Palm Beach, from 4-6.

This is a version of my grandmother’s cobbler, complete with all the Crisco and butter and sugar you can eat. Somewhere in heaven, she’s proud. And somewhere in Palm Beach, Bob, my marathon coach, is about to write me a nasty letter. Isn’t it ironic that I should discover I’m a great baker at the very moment I pledge to lose 15 pounds? Ha. Ha.

By the way: Former Post food diva Jan Norris is making something called Florida Orange Cake, which doesn’t even sound good. Of course, everything she makes is delicious. But this sounds like Sunny D with frosting. Ewww.

    It’s on, Norris. IT’S ON.

    Sunny D with frosting?? What’s Sunny D?
See? I only know the best ingredients — real Florida oranges, real cake. Not apples. From Chile or New Zealand — or wherever they’re ripe right now. Is this the best ya got?

  3. Leslie says:

Sunny Delight is fake orange drink. And the cake sounds suoer sweet.
