This week’s bar: Spoto’s Oyster Bar and Bluepoint Lounge (More info about the bar: Click here)

The scene: Though Spoto’s is justifiably known as one of the best seafood restaurants in our midst, it’s a place for serious socializing, too. The restaurant’s coolly conceived, brick-walled Bluepoint Lounge attracts an after-work crowd of young professionals who appreciate the sophisticated vibe. A neighborhood sports bar, this ain’t.

Signature cocktail:
The Coco Palm Martini ($9.75), a refreshing blend of Cruzan Coconut Rum, Sobieski Vodka and pineapple juice. It tastes a bit like a pina colada, but without the heaviness of the coconut cream or the sweetness of the rum. But be careful: This one goes down very easy.

Other noteworthy libations: There’s a fun assortment of flavored margaritas ($7.25), including a tangerine one that gets a colorful boost from a rim of red sugar. And if you’re in a mood for something other than spirits, the wine and beer list are quite extensive. Spoto’s also offers a house-brand draft, Spoto’s Oyster Ale ($5.25), that comes courtesy of the folks at the Sierra Nevada Brewing Co.

Bar bites: During Happy Hour (4 to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday), a great selection of value-priced appetizers (all $4.75) are served — go for the bacon-wrapped shrimp (love the accompanying corn relish) or the tuna “pate” (really, a smoked tuna dip). And true to the name of the lounge, bluepoint oysters are offered for $1.50 apiece during Happy Hour as well. Otherwise, feel free to have dinner at the bar, ordering from Spoto’s full menu.

Music and more:
A steel drummer keeps the crowd entertained on Friday nights and a singer-keyboardist does the same on Saturdays. And if you do want to catch the big game, Spoto’s has two TVs as well.

Deals: In addition to the Happy Hour specials on food, select drinks are offered at half-price during the same timeframe.
