This week’s bar: Roux Bamboux Lounge at Sundy House

The scene: A boutique inn listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Sundy House is known for its lush Taru Gardens and romantic restaurant. The Roux Bamboux Lounge — situated among the restaurant’s three dining rooms — allows you to experience both. The crowd tends to be a bit older, and while the place is definitely upscale, it has a comfortable, friendly vibe.

Signature drink: The color of sunshine, Sundy’s Last Temptation is a refreshing alternative to the standard-issue martini. An unusual mashup of lychee sweetness and yuzu tartness, it’s typically $9, but you can give into temptation for $5 on Thursday nights.

Other noteworthy libations: The Pomegranate Whisper (Fris vodka and pomegranate liqueur) goes down way too easy, and Absolutely Mango (Absolut mango vodka plus mango sorbet) is worth a return trip. And while the bar doesn’t offer beer on tap, it has a substantial selection of wines by the glass.

Bar bites: A bar menu is available every night. We liked the generous servings of Tempura Calamari with sake soy reduction ($8) and the asparagus fries with Remoulade sauce ($5). Next time, we’ll try the cheese plate ($13). On Thursday nights, the staff sets out a complimentary buffet — recently it featured several salads, barbecue pulled chicken, hummus and pita bread.

Music and more: Live music on Thursday nights.

Deals: On Thursday nights, a selection of cocktails is available for $5 a glass, and drawings are held for bar patrons — the winners receive a free Sunday brunch at Sundy House.

Parking: Valet parking at the inn is $5, but self-park lots and parking garages are within walking distance.
