This week’s bar: Racks Downtown Eatery + Tavern.

The scene: After a $4 million renovation, the interior is nothing short of stunning. Just two of the clever touches include the eye-popping chandeliers made from yacht rope, and the ménage à trois benches at the bar, which comfortably seat two.

The signature cocktail: The Rack-o-Rita ($11). The blood-red crème de cassis makes this refreshing beverage a pretty shade of pink, but the taste is margarita all the way.

Other noteworthy libations: An unusual selection of craft beers, wines by the glass and cocktails such as the Boca Lemonade (Absolut Pears plus pink lemonade) and the Lolita Crush (a mojito made with three kinds of muddled berries).

The food: The cedar salmon chips ($11) and miso lettuce cups ($13) are customer favorites. We liked the cute factor of the Little Deviled Eggs ($5), and the lightness of the tuna tacos ($14), dressed with slivers of green apple, radish and wasabi mustard greens.

When we return for dinner, we’ll save room for the S’mores Pie ($9), a little pot of melted Valrhona French chocolate, topped by a toupee of toasted marshmallows, and served with graham crackers and Grape Nuts ice cream.

The deals: Happy hour from 4 to 7 p.m. daily at the bar: two-for-one drinks and half-price appetizers.

  1. Good day Everybody, I thought I would place a brief article about the new Ceramic films now being offered through 3M as well as other Window Film Suppliers just to clarify a few points. While traditional window films are dyed or metallized, ceramic films are created in totally different process. They are constructed with a nano-ceramic material which usually results in one of the most important advances in Window Films in many years. Although costlier as compared to other dyed or metalized films, ceramic films perform significantly better with regards to infrared and heat rejection. In addition they block approximately 99% of Ultra violet rays, substantially reducing fading of furniture, drapes, car interiors and so on. Yet Ceramic Series films still permit 30% to 50% of the day light through your windows. There is a wealth of facts on the web, just run a google look up for “Ceramic films” or visit the Residential Window Tinting page at Sunrayfilms.com website.
