Will Smith and son Jaden are teaming up again on the big-screen.
The two last starred together in the 2006 drama “The Pursuit of Happyness.” They will work together in an as-yet-untitled science-fiction adventure for Columbia Pictures, a unit of Sony Corp.
M. Night Shyamalan is directing and co-writing the movie starring the 42-year-old father and his 12-year-old son. Shyamalan also directed “The Sixth Sense” and “The Last Airbender.”
Sony said Monday that the movie centers on a boy struggling to save himself and his estranged father after their ship crashes on an abandoned Earth a thousand years in the future.
As they did on their son’s 2010 hit, “The Karate Kid,” Will and Jada Pinkett Smith will be producers on the new movie.

Want to know what Digital Domain, the animation company that received local incentives to open studios in Port St. Lucie, is up to?
Check out “Tron: Legacy” starting at midnight Thursday.
Digital Domain’s California studio had a major role in creating Disney’s $200 million, 3-D sequel to “Tron,” a 1982 sci-fi film. In addition to the final product, which opens across the Treasure Coast this weekend, the visual effects company worked on the environments and characters that helped persuade Disney executives to greenlight the movie, Digital Domain Holdings CEO John Textor said.
“It gave us a whole lot of confidence in our skills as we move into creating original animation content,” Textor said. “It was a great warm-up for what we’re doing in Port St. Lucie.”

Irvin Kershner, who directed the Star Wars sequel “The Empire Strikes Back” and the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again,” has died at age 87.
Kershner died Saturday at his Los Angeles home following a 3½-year battle with lung cancer, said longtime friend and Hollywood publicist Dick Guttman.
Kershner already had made a number of well-received movies when he was hired by George Lucas to direct “Empire,” which was the second produced but fifth in the “Star Wars” chronology.

LOS ANGELES — James Cameron is giving “Avatar” a fresh start.
Cameron unveiled a new opening scene Tuesday for an extended cut of his sci-fi blockbuster due out Nov. 16 on DVD and Blu-ray disc, the sequence offering a glimpse of life on crowded, polluted 22nd century Earth, where city dwellers are bombarded by digital ads and wear masks for protection from the foul air.

The bride wore a T-shirt with Princess Leia confessing “I love you” on it.
The groom wore one too, only his had Han Solo’s reply: “I know.”
The Jedi officiating gave them a stern look.
If you’ve seen Iron Man 2 already, and you’re a movie geek — like myself — your geekdom hit overload during the trailers. If you haven’t, take precautions.
For there is a trailer for a movie that has Steven Spielberg as its producer and J.J. Abrams as its director.
Now, you won’t see a lot of what Super 8‘s about — the movie is being filmed right now and won’t come out until Summer 2011. And the plot has been kept under tight wraps. (Surprise! Any movie with Abrams involved suddenly becomes more secret that Kremlin documents.)
Actually, you can see for yourself (kind of — E! Online put up a link of a camera-phone’s video of the trailer):
So here’s what we know — that it has something to do with some creature from Area 51 that may or may not be running loose around the Ohio countryside after surviving a train wreck.
Who cares? When does next summer get here?!

Whether you’re a fan of the comic books — or just an enthusiast of supernatural Westerns — your wish has been granted: The long-awaited trailer for Jonah Hex has arrived. (watch below!)
Video: Watch the Trailer for Highly Anticipated ‘Eclipse’
Josh Brolin plays the gun-toting, physically scarred hero, Hex, and Megan Fox, herself no stranger to the summer action flick (Transformers), co-stars as his unwitting (and sexy) Southern sidekick. Of course, no summer action flick is complete without an over-the-top villain. And by the looks of the trailer, John Malkovich fits the role quite nicely.
Video: Watch Julia Roberts in ‘Eat, Pray, Love’
If you’re looking to see the trailer below on a slightly larger screen, it is currently playing before showings of the horror remake A Nightmare on Elm Street. You can see Jonah Hex in its entirety when it hits theaters on June 18.
Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be back in black. Men in Black, that is. And in 3-D no less.
Photos: The Top Action Stars of All Time
Director/producer Barry Sonnenfeld told Showbiz411.com that Smith and Jones have signed on for the multi-dimensional sequel. All the project needs now is a script. The Web site predicts that the latest addition to blockbuster sci-fi franchise will hit theaters sometime in Summer 2011.
3-D TV: Seeing Beyond the Hype
Men in Black is the latest in a number of film franchises using the eye-popping technology to boost ticket sales. Next month, the fourth Shrek feature, Shrek Forever After, hits theaters in 3-D, and later this summer, Pixar’s highly anticipated Toy Story 3 gets the 3-D treatment.
But the in-your-face effect isn’t relegated to just animated and blockbuster films. A gore-filled re-imagining of the 1978 horror flick Piranha, appropriately titled Piranha 3-D, will chomp its way into theaters this August.
Last year, the J.J. Abrams-helmed version of Star Trek was met with cheers from critics and audiences.
But did you like the ending?
(Actually, it was pretty good. Harkened back to the old series in a great way. But I digress.)
The folks at a cool site called HowItShouldHaveEnded.com decided to tweak things a bit. This is what they came up with:
If you’d like to check out more oddly tweaked endings, check out their videos here.
