Video: Bueller tease not for sequel, but for Honda ad

By Jonathan Tully   |  Funny, Television  |  January 27, 2012

If you’ve happened across a 10-second video with Matthew Broderick, clearly redoing his “Ferris Bueller” role from the 1986 movie, you have to wonder: “Are they possibly doing a SEQUEL?!”

The answer, unfortunately, is no. This is for a Honda ad, says the site Jalopnik, coming up during the Super Bowl on Sunday.

(To echo some recent statements by Leslie Streeter — Dear current generation, stop stealing my past!)

(And get off my lawn!)

A new season of Celebrity Apprentice means it’s time for Donald Trump to break out the firing stick and get rid of someone.

For those who saw the show, this was an agonizing decision for everyone involved, even Trump, who more often than not has no problem spotting a fire-ee and pulling the trigger.

This time around, Carol Leifer got the first pink slip:

First lady the essence of Clair Huxtable

By The Washington Post   |  Television  |  July 06, 2009

So far, the first lady has chosen to be a food bank volunteer with an outsize entourage and an education activist with the largest soapbox imaginable. But Michelle Obama also fills a role that is not of her choosing but that may, in fact, be the most influential: She serves as a symbol of middle-class progress, feminist achievement, affirmative-action success and individual style.

And she has done all this on the world stage … while being black.

Time and again, observers grasp for adjectives to describe Obama’s combination of professional accomplishment and soccer-mom maternalism. It’s no wonder so many eye her with awe and disbelief. Or why a minority still view her with suspicion. There have been few broad cultural precedents for what she represents. Read the full story
