JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) — Levi Johnston says there are really no qualifications to hold the job that Sarah Palin once held — that of mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.
Johnston, the father of Palin’s grandson, was grilled on The View Monday about his mayoral ambitions.
In August, Johnston’s manager confirmed Johnston’s plans to run for the office as part of a reality TV show and insisted he was serious about it.
Johnston said the only real qualification is to live in the city limits for a year before the election. He believes he’s as qualified as any other candidate, saying he believes it’s important to listen to the people and their concerns.
Johnston said he has no platform, which drew groans from the round-table.
NEW YORK — Barbara Walters says she will have surgery later this week to replace a faulty heart valve.
The television legend made the announcement Monday on ABC’s “The View.” Walters said she’s known about her condition for a while and thought the time was right for the surgery because she can take the summer off and “can come roaring back in September.”
Walters is 80. She’s one of television news’ best-known personalities for her interviews. She started the daytime talk show “The View” in the 1990s and it became a durable hit.
Asked by co-host Whoopi Goldberg if she is scared, Walters said: “Look, nobody wants to have this kind of surgery.”
PopEater’s Rob Shuter and The Insider‘s Lara Spencer delved deeper into the Elizabeth Hasselbeck-Erin Andrews tiff earlier, and came up with a couple of interesting players: Barbara Walters and Sarah Palin.
Shuter, who writes the Naughty But Nice column for AOL’s PopEater, reported that Walters was the one who spurred Hasselbeck to apologize for her comments about Andrews’ Dancing With the Stars wardrobe — and not Hasselbeck’s 5-year-old daughter, as she said on ABC’s The View.
Meanwhile, while all this was going on, Hasselbeck turned to friend and former GOP vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin for advice, Shuter said.
Here are Shuter and Spencer on The Insider talking about the latest:
Here’s a little more updating Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s slam of, and subsequent apology to, ESPN reporter Erin Andrews about Andrews’ Dancing With the Stars outfits.
For more on what Hasselbeck said, click here, but she basically called Andrews out Tuesday on The View for wearing skimpy dance outfits mere months after a stalker secretly videotaped her nude and put it up on the Internet.
On Wednesday’s View, after Andrews said Hasselbeck’s comments were “a slap in the face to victims of stalking and sexual predators” to People‘s website, Hasselbeck came back and tearfully apologized, saying her 5-year-old daughter gave her some wise advice:
Star Jones, the one-time host of ABC’s The View, is recovering from cardiac surgery last week.
Jones underwent a scheduled follow-up procedure to surgery 30 years ago which removed a thoracic tumor, according to People.com.
Jones’ representative wrote:
“On Wednesday, March 17th, a pre-planned cardiac surgery was performed on Star Jones. The procedure was successful and she is recovering well with her family. Star is grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers”.
In 2003, Jones underwent gastric bypass surgery and ended up losing 160 pounds.
Some news agencies would have you believe that the story about Nadya Suleman coming out of her appearance on ABC’s The View is that she’s not ruling out having another kid.
NEW YORK (AP) — ABC is adding Kate Gosselin (GAHS’-lihn) to the list of guest co-hosts for “The View.”
Celebrity mom Gosselin will be subbing for regular “View” co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck on Sept. 14 and 15. Hasselbeck is on maternity leave after giving birth to her third child, Isaiah, earlier this month.
Gosselin, the mother of twins and sextuplets, co-stars with her estranged husband on TLC’s reality series “Jon & Kate Plus 8.”
ABC has previously announced Meghan McCain, E.D. Hill and LaToya Jackson as guest co-hosts for the daytime talk show.
People is reporting that comedian and View co-host, Joy Behar might finally tie the knot with Steve Janowitz, her beau of 26 and a half years. If the nuptials do take place this would be a 2nd for Joy who divorced in 1981.
Through the years Joy has expressed she had no desire to ever remarry. Apparently her change of heart came due to practicality reasons, she wants to assure they can visit each other in the hospital if an illness were to occur.
Barbara Walters offered to host the wedding at her home if she can get first dibs and make the wedding announcement on air unfortunately the story has leaked out already.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck of “The View” and her husband, Tim, who played for the Arizona Cardinals, are about to be outnumbered. Hasselbeck announced Thursday on the ABC daytime chat show that she’s pregnant with her third child, due in August. She said: “We are thankful for such great news and will begin planning our zone defense strategy immediately.”
The couple are the parents of 3-year-old Grace Elisabeth and 15-month-old Taylor Thomas.
Being outnumbered at work is nothing new for Hasselbeck. As the resident conservative on “The View,” she’s often gotten into passionate political arguments with her colleagues.
