Restaurant Listing: Directions, reviews, more

For some reason, Boca Raton isn’t usually the first place that comes to mind when I’m thinking about possible places for dinner.

Maybe it seems like a hike, or too fancy. But not long ago, on the way south to a show in Miami, I had two hours to kill and a hungry belly, and a little leeway to just wander around until I found something yummy.

And what I found was Jake’s Stone Crab, tucked into the corner of a shaded shopping center. It’s not cheap. But boy, is it splurge-worthy!

The Bahamian conch chowder is smooth and spicy, as was the she-crab soup I sampled from my dining companion’s bowl when he wasn’t looking. (Sorry!) And the seafood pasta, chock full of shrimp and lobster and with a choice of tomato or Alfredo sauce? Unreal. Again, not cheap. But for a once-in-a-while jaunt through the greater Boca area, it’s a sure bet that it’s worth it.

Jake’s Stone Crab, 514 Via De Palmas, Boca Raton. (561) 347-1055
