This week’s bar: Jellies Bar at The Atlantic Grille

The scene: Part of The Seagate Hotel & Spa, a luxury boutique hotel that opened last November in Delray Beach, the Atlantic Grille’s Jellies Bar boasts a block-long terrace on Atlantic Avenue and a gorgeous, cutting-edge interior. It tends to attract a mix of locals and hotel guests ages 30 and up.

The signature cocktail: The Bell Jelly ($12), equal parts acai berry and pomegranate liquors, is a glass of antioxidants masquerading as a highly sippable beverage.

Other noteworthy drinks: An assortment of cocktails (each $12) named after sea creatures — a reference to the aquarium of jellyfish behind the bar — such as the Portuguese Man O’War (Leblon cachaca muddled with strawberries, basil, fresh lime and sugar), the Blue Button (Svedka vodka, blue curacao, cranberry juice, fresh lemon and a berry skewer) and the Black Sea Nettle martini (Stoli vanilla vodka, Van Gogh espresso vodka, Kahlua, Godiva chocolate liqueur, cream and a garnish of chocolate and espresso beans).

The bar also stocks close to 50 varieties of scotch and about a dozen choices of bourbon and whiskey.

Not into the hard stuff? The Jellies wine list numbers almost 300 from such standbys as Estancia to extremely rare bottles of Screaming Eagle. The bar also features four beers on tap.

Bar bites: We tried the hummus plate ($9) — an artfully presented array of hummus, two huge pita crisps, kalamata olives, feta cheese and roasted red peppers. Among the many other snacky options are truffle fries ($7); calamari with capers, tomato, basil, white wine and garlic ($11); and a ground sirloin burger with aged cheddar and applewood smoked bacon ($13).

Deals: $4 draft beers, $4 house wines and well drinks starting at $4 from 4 to 7 p.m. daily.

Entertainment: A pianist tickles the ivories Wednesday through Sunday evenings.

Hours: The bar begins serving at 11 a.m. and stays open as late as 2 a.m. on weekends. The restaurant serves lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Information: Jellies Bar at The Atlantic Grille, Seagate Hotel and Spa, 1000 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, (561) 665-4900. TheAtlanticGrille.com
