sunset_martiniThis week’s bar: Top of the Point

The scene: Perched 13 stories above Flagler Drive in the Phillips Point building, with a panoramic view of Palm Beach and the ocean, Top of the Point is near the top of the list of must-see sites for locals. And its host of summer specials makes this the perfect time to relax into a banquette near the window, order a vodka-spiked lemonade and visit the observation deck. And the whole experience is delivered with the top-shelf service associated with its parent company, The Breakers.

The signature cocktail: The Sunset Martini ($13), Top of the Point’s photogenic version of a Mai Tai, a smooth tequila-and-grapefruit concoction that tastes even better than it looks.

Other noteworthy libations: The restaurant’s new summertime bar menu includes the highly addictive Arnie Palmer ($12) – Jeremiah Sweet Tea vodka and homemade lemonade served on the rocks in a sugar-rimmed brandy snifter; the Golden Skyline ($14) – a twist on the Manhattan that’ll put hair on your chest, it’s made with Clynelish scotch, Cointreau and a white wine-citrus infusion; and the tart Level 13 ($12) – Tanqueray gin, fresh lemon, basil and cucumber.

Bar bites: The heaping plate of crab nachos ($16) is hearty enough for at least two, and other popular choices include truffled Gorgonzola fries ($10), Neapolitan flat breads (starting at $12) and short rib sliders ($13) with Manchego cheese and pickled onions.

Deals: Through October, Top of the Point’s lounge area is featuring a variety of happy hour food specials from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, with half-price well-brand cocktails, Breakers label wine and bottled beer. It’s also offering a $35, three-course summer dinner menu.

Other things to know: If you valet your car, take your ticket to Top of the Point for validating. Also note that there’s a dress code (shorts, torn jeans, tank tops, and T-shirts not permitted) and that the Breakers tacks a 20 percent service charge onto your tab.

Info: Top of the Point, 777 S. Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach; (561) 832-2424 .
