This week’s bar: Deck 84.

The scene: Opened in November, Deck 84 is longtime South Florida restaurateur Burt Rapoport’s latest helping of hospitality. The owner of Henry’s, Bogart’s and Max’s Grille in southern Palm Beach County has turned the spacious former site of Busch’s Seafood, which rests along the western bank of the Intracoastal, into a casual retreat from bustling Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.

Out back and accessible by boat, Deck 84 boasts a dock, dog-friendly patio and breezy, shaded bar. Inside, another bar and roughly 15 tables await those seeking a little shelter.

The signature cocktail: The 4 Orange Bay Breeze ($10), a citrus-y toast to island life – and a thirst-quenching way to support the Florida economy (4 Orange Premium Vodka is Florida-made and headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens).

Other noteworthy libations: A full range of choices, from $3 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon to a wine list tended by an onsite sommelier to the weekend brunches’ Build Your Own Bloody Mary bar. Starting at $9, the Absolut vodka-based beverages can be spiked with fresh horseradish, hot sauce, Slim Jims and a host of other items.

Bar bites: Deck 84 offers a different selection of fresh specials daily, but we tried one of the flatbreads – the combination of pear and Brie ($12) was heavenly – and a heaping platter of chicken lettuce wraps ($11). Both dishes were ideal for sharing, and either would make a meal for one.

Deals: From 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays, draft beer, house wine, well drinks and bar snacks are half-price at the bar. Tuesday also is Taco & Margarita Night (two tacos and a Patron frozen margarita for $12), and Thursday is Ladies Night (gals enjoy happy hour prices at the bar from 3 p.m. till closing).

If you’re in the area during a South Florida thunderstorm, duck into Deck 84 for its "When It Rains, We Pour" promotion: happy-hour pricing at the bar, regardless of the time of day.

Know before you go: The valet parking is $3.

Info: 840 E. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach, (561) 665-8484

Leave the dogs home, would you?
