SUMMER ROAD TRIP with a view of West Palm.

West Palm’s Top of The Point has embarked on a culinary road trip, paying homage to great American food destinations with a series of new weekly menus. This week, the tour stops in Nantucket, which means chef Brian Schuyler is exploring that destination’s local delicacies. At the Newport, Rhode Island, stop last week, he lavished “tourists” with dishes like mussels Portuguese, Harpooned Block Island Swordfish and Summer Jumbleberry Cobbler with buttermilk maple ice cream.

Next up on the tour: The Hudson Valley (Aug. 9-13), Door County Wisconsin (Aug. 16-20), Big Sky Country (Aug. 23-27), Napa Valley (Aug. 30-Sept. 3), La La Land (Sept. 6-10), Santa Fe (Sept. 13-17), Tejas (Sept. 20024) and The Big Easy (Sept. 27-Oct. 1).
The “round-trip fare” for each special three-course menu is $39.50 (excluding tax and tip).

Top of the Point is at 777 S. Flagler Dr., Club Level, West Palm Beach. Phone: (561) 832-2424 | Directions, reviews, more

OPENINGS

ENGLISH TAP & BEER GARDEN:
Wild Olives by Todd English has moved next door and morphed into a new biergarten experience. The English Tap & Beer Garden, which opened a couple of weeks ago, takes its inspiration from English’s successful P.U.B. tavern in Las Vegas.

The new eatery remains in the hands of owner John Watson (who also owns Wild Ginger in West Palm Beach and Taverna Opa in Miami’s Dolphin Mall). The kitchen remains under the command of Wild Olives executive chef Ken Stevens. He has expanded the menu to include pub specialties (think bangers and mash) to go with 25 beers on tap and more than 60 bottled beers from across the planet.
The English Tap & Beer Garden restaurant is at 5050 Town Center Circle (The Shops at Boca Center), Boca Raton. Phone: (561) 544-8000 | Directions, invite friends, more

CLOSINGS

GULFSTREAM CAFE has shut its doors after eight months in Jupiter, at 1352 U.S. Highway 1. “Corporate decided to close that particular location,” says operating partner Gary Reumann.

ZUCCARELLI’S ITALIAN KITCHEN has closed its PGA Boulevard location. Ralph Zuccarelli, whose daughter Olimpia owns the restaurant, cites a rent increase as the reason for shuttering the PGA Commons location. The principal location remains open at 4595 Okeechobee Blvd. in West Palm Beach (in the The Emporium Shoppes). Phone: (561) 686-7739.

THE RAW KITCHEN, the raw foods restaurant at 509 Clematis St. in West Palm, has closed.

  1. obama voter says:

I don’t get it, do we have to travel to Wisconsin or Napa Valley? Where do we buy tickets? Why does a restaurant move it’s location to other states?
