The next time you’re enjoying the party on Clematis Street, sipping a coffee at CityPlace or perusing the various happenings in and around downtown West Palm Beach, keep your eye out for a petite brunette woman, breezily tapping away at her iPhone.
And while you’re at it, be sure to look for a tallish blond guy, sometimes accompanied by his blond family, smilingly doing the same.
They may not look like it, but they are two of downtown’s biggest boosters – and they do it all in the space of 140 characters or less.
They are “A Guy On Clematis Street” and “A Gal At CityPlace” – the handles they use on the Twitter to briefly broadcast what’s going on along downtown’s main drags.
Aaron Wormus, also known as A Guy, and Ceci Dadisman, also known as A Gal, are everywhere, kind of like Gossip Girl’s anonymous society dish blogger, except that neither has a problem disclosing an identity to people.
And instead of following the trashy hijinks of the über-rich, A Guy and A Gal are much more egalitarian, following stuff everyone cares about, like sales, new restaurant openings and cool concerts in “a really organic way,” says Dadisman.
Wormus, 33, has been tweeting since 2009 and has upwards of 2,000 followers, while Dadisman’s, only a few months old, has more than 200, almost a hundred since the end of August – “Things seem to move fast on Twitter,” she says.
And they move pretty fast, too. Hanging out with them, as they shoot photos of what they’re eating, what others are buying, and the cars passing by, is like seeing the same stuff you always see, through new and interested eyes.

Once a month, Dadisman and Wormus host a tweet-up somewhere downtown, where “we chit-chat, drink beer and wine, and people come together who know each other from Twitter,” Dadisman says.
And their followers say that their keen eyes, wit and way with a camera phone are invaluable.
“I like reading their tweets because … I always discover new happenings, behind the scenes information and scoops from AGuy and AGal,” says Elizabeth Dashiell of the Palm Beach Shakespeare Festival, who adds that Wormus was “a huge, driving force behind the tweet-ups during Shakespeare by the Sea. And did I mention how amazingly nice they both are?”
And they’re everywhere. In the past month or so, one or both has been spotted Tweeting at the Sunday at the Meyer concert series, the Fashion’s Night Out fashion show at the Harriet Theater in CityPlace, and the Wine and Art Promenade in Northwood Village.
At the latter, Wormus sipped an iced coffee at Harold’s Coffee Lounge – after tweeting a photo of it, of course.
“He tweets everywhere,” confirms Stella Wormus of her husband. “He’s usually pretty good about not tweeting absolutely everything (when out together). But he does tweet all the time.”
That’s apparently true – the author of more than 14,000 tweets on his A Guy feed, Wormus has been hitting Twitter “for fun” for years, as well as blogging. The Finnish-born son of a native Finn and an American dad, he moved full-time to Florida in 2007 from Germany, where wife Stella is from.
After visiting Clematis by Night, the city’s Thursday night street party, “I thought ‘Someone has to commemorate this.’ People aren’t aware of the things that are happening on the rooftop at Roxy’s, or took pictures when they were putting the floorboards in at Don Ramon’s,” says Wormus, who also has a newsletter called Smile! You’re On Clematis and gives talk about hyper local blogging.
The managing director of HedgeCo.net, a hedge fund research and services firm, Wormus snaps and tweets not just things he wants to share, like a pretty sunset, but information like the location of a favorite food truck or a photo of fire trucks at the Palm Beach County Courthouse, inquiring “What’s going on?” And when a man was seen jogging naked down Clematis, “he was all over it” says follower Shannon Felder.
Also all over Wormus’ informative, funny feed? Dadisman, 30, who does publicity for nonprofit arts organizations, including Palm Beach Opera and the Palm Beach Symphony. Having tweeted on her own for a while, she came across Wormus and decided there was a niche for her in the Twitterverse.
“I was always at CityPlace – I lived there – I was always doing something,” says the Pittsburgh native, who was attracted to downtown West Palm because it was the only place locally that reminded her of the many distinct neighborhoods at home.
And while she’s doing things at CityPlace she’s tweeting. Sometimes, she’s at her favorite happy hour at City Cellar, tweeting about her “killer flatbread” and the excellent specials, with pictures. Later, she hits the shops in CityPlace, perusing the “Mad Men” collection at Banana Republic, picking up a deal at Ann Taylor – “Extra 50% off sale ??!!” she tweets, with a photo of the big welcoming sales sign.
“If there’s a sale, I’ll tweet that, and if the guy with the parrots is there at CityPlace, who has the birds you can take pictures with, I’ll tweet that,” she says.
Both Twitter feeds were born of a genuine love of West Palm Beach and the need to share that love. Neither is paid for the work, but they tweet several times a day, careful not to overdo it. But their followers can’t get enough.
“Just the other day I tried to visit Doner Pockets (a new German/Turkish fast-food place downtown) but it was closed,” says West Palm Beach native Lee Pagan, “so I went to Twitter to ask (Wormus) if it was open yet and he told me that were opening the next day.”
Look around you. A Guy and A Gal might be right nearby, telling you the next thing you just have to know about.
“Everyone sees stuff,” Wormus says. “Me, I take a picture of it.”

I would prefer to have tweets on crime scenes not social scenes so I can avoid those areas!
Gene, that would be nice. I follow Boynton Beach PD at http://twitter.com/#!/BBPD, I don’t think WPB PD tweets yet.
Personally I read the tumblr blog for the west palm beacher. The creator of the page adds a bit of class to this town (which is desperately needed) and gives more detailed info about what WPB has to offer. It’s not a drive by attention deficit bullhorn like twitter.
We love the West Palmer blog too: http://westpalmer.com/ She usually comes to our tweetups as well and is a super gal! :)
Kudos to any and all promoting the Downtown! The same motivation was what caused us to start our blog — DoWestPalm.com — this summer to highlight upcoming events and blog about them. US News and World Report lists Clematis as the #1 place to visit in West Palm.
The tens of thousands of hits on our YouTube channel and blog show that people are wanting to know what there is to do
In downtown west palm.
We’re not big on twitter (I don’t really start thinking until the 141st character) but everyone who’s promoting our downtown deserves a hurrah!
http://www.DoWestPalm.com has some of the best scene spotters in DOwntown. Their website will inform you of the events before they happen and then they’ll post videos and blogs after the event. DoWestPalm.com has over 180 videos on their YouTube channel of just DOwntown WPB events and the website has everything you’ll need to know about DOwntown. DOWestPalm has special events, what bands are playing where, parking tips, menus and every Happy Hour special there is! If you’re planning to be part of the DOwntown scene, check out http://www.DOWestPalm.com first, then come on DOwntown and be part of the scene
Great article to find out the quick low-down on happenings for 2 great sections of the city from A Guy and A Gal.
I loved your article. The great local coverage is one reason I subscribe. I am a parent volunteer at Dreyfoos School of the Arts. I think we have a very newsworthy/local interest story in our theatre department. Our new fall musical is an entirely original modern twist on A Midsummer Night’s Dream including music from the Moody Blues and Cirque De Soleil-type silk aerial work. It runs November 3rd through 6th and would make a really colorful piece. It would be great to recognize the talents of such hard working students and faculty. Thanks for considering.
I follow @aguyonclematis because I love hearing what’s going on downtown – restaurants opening, construction, new events… There was really no up-to-the-minute coverage of West Palm until Aaron’s blog & twitter feeds. He provides a much-needed service, especially to those of us who don’t work directly downtown, but like to eat lunch or dinner there, go to events and stay in the know.
