The Tropical Storm served at the Stir Bar and Terrace at The Ritz-Carlton. Brandon Kruse/The Post

This week’s bar: Stir Bar at The Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach The scene: Think casual sophistication. After a $100 million makeover, The Ritz is looking very, well, ritzy these days. But Stir Bar has a more relaxed vibe to it: Think vacationers sipping something cold after a long day lounging by the pool or beach. You can also have your drink on the terrace — surely, an inviting option when the weather turns cooler. Signature cocktail: The Tropical Storm ($14) is a blended drink of surprising sophistication. That’s because it forsakes the usual commercial-grade rum for the earthier Leblon cachaca and it gets its fruity flavor from a tasty, tropical mix of banana, raspberry and papaya purées instead of an overly sweet frozen-drink mix. With a garnish of fresh banana, it also looks as good as it tastes. Other noteworthy libations: This is a place where mixology is taken seriously, so you’ll find cocktails designed to take full advantage of unusual spirits and flavorings. Consider the Italian Ice ($14), a tart refresher made with limoncello. But even standard cocktails are elaborate affairs. The whiskey sour ($10), for example, is made the traditional way with egg whites. Bar bites: The choices range from the everyday (a ho-hum cheese plate for $14) to the innovative (brie and parsley risotto balls for $11). Sliders ($16) are another popular option. Or for something sweet, try the cleverly presented assortment of mini cupcakes ($12). Music and more: Look for a DJ on Friday and live jazz on Saturday. And you can mix your music with some raw fish: On those nights, the bar also features a sushi bar, courtesy of the popular local chain Sushi Jo. The info: 100 S. $14 for a drink that has 1 ounce of booze- not even if we weren’t in a recession.

I was just there and loved the way they rebuilt the hotel. the staff is awesome and no request is too much. I had cocktails at Stir and I am aware of the high prices but hey that’s what you expect going to the Ritz Carlton. Remember you get what you pay for. it’s been a true 5 star experience, The Lounge Manager Stephanie is awesome as well as her staff. Way to go girls and bartenders

I agree with Lulu. I also don’t think people are interested in the alcohol if they order this drink… it seems more meant to be a refreshment, which is just perfect for a hot summer day at the beach. Plus the drink has papaya in it – where can you get that?!

… whiskey sour made with egg whites… no one does that!

I’ve been to the hotel and can say that the other restaurants there are very reasonably priced, for both food and drinks. I think you do get what you pay for, and the service, ambiance and even quality of the food and drink is worth it here!
