brooklynbagels1As anyone who has ever been in the New York area knows, Brooklyn bagels have a unique taste and quality – and thanks to a patented water process – the bagels are now available in Delray Beach.

The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co.
is launching its first restaurant on Aug. 10 at 14451 S. Military Trail. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and early dinner, bottling Original Brooklyn Water – and where patrons can watch as bagels are made fresh all day.

The first 100 customers at the grand opening Aug. 10 will receive a gift of ½ dozen bagels, a bottled six pack of Original Brooklyn Water and a bag of Brooklyn’s Best coffee, a medium roast specially blended by Boca Java. The Delray Beach restaurant opens at 6 a.m.

Many have attempted to recreate New York bagels without success. Until now. When President and CEO Steven M. Fassberg realized the water made the bagel, he sought and obtained the exclusive rights to the patented technology that can replicate Brooklyn water from any water source.

Using that water, the company has developed their own unique proprietary bagel recipes producing a true Brooklyn bagel, with a thin, crusty exterior that’s golden brown and moist, but not doughy. The Original Brooklyn Water is used for all the restaurant’s food and beverages and is bottled and sold at the restaurant.

The 3,000-square-foot Delray Beach store – adjacent to the company’s headquarters – will be open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily and will seat 108 customers. The restaurant features a glass-enclosed display of bagels being made, starting with a station for the technology that recreates Brooklyn water and moving to stations where the water is chilled to the proper temperature, the dough is mixed, shaped, boiled in Original Brooklyn Water, cooled, seeded and baked. The Original Brooklyn Water Bagel Co. in Delray Beach also assists residents in Hurricane preparedness, offering up to 5 gallons of water free when a boil-water alert is declared.

  1. Finally, some good bagels for my patients in my office!

Its a marketing ploy to suggest his water mix is special…and using hurricane preparedness is irrelevant. Boil water orders happen after the storm so preparedness would suggest that someone has water in advance….not only that, but be careful…remember “read my lips…no new taxes”? If you proclaim free water you can bet your sweet bippy they community will clear you out….

& finally….I wish you luck but readers should know “Bagels &”, both stores are gold mines for a reason. The bagels are authentic, the deli is amazing and so is the family atmosphere. Good luck, there’s always room for a good breakfast joint.

    • Bagel Maven says:

Nice try but its not all about the water. These bagels are nothing like real NY bagels. I think the water is just a gimick. I have had better bagels from other places that use “Florida” water. The only way to get a real NY bagels is to go to NY or have them sent to you by FedEx.

  2. Betty Leonard says:

Thanks for spreading the word Dr. Raborn; my mouth is already “watering”!

  3. Looking forward to your opening! I think you picked the right location!

  4. Jim Jackman says:

This is what Florida has needed forever. Finally some good bagels. I can’t wait, this business is going to be a gold mine.

  5. Linda Chiarello says:

I’m from the NYC area. I long for a great NY bagel when I’m in DelRay Beach. Thanks for making my Florida visits complete!!!! I wish the owners great success.

  6. Kim S says:

There is NOTHING like a NY bagel…..way to go!!!

  7. alcofan says:

Too much humidity in Fla. for good NY bagels.

  8. Joe says:

Good luck. Hope the old people don’t nickel and dime you to death

    • bob mcnab says:

joe, you have hit the nail right on the head…they will be right on the mark and will take the sweet and low..

  9. Jay Ross says:

You’re going to need the police and paramedics for the free giveaway….people will be in line with walkers, oxygen tanks and wheelchairs….there will be heart attacks, heat strokes and line fights……GOOD LUCK……..you’ll need it…

  10. Mike says:

There’s already GREAT, REAL, NEW YORK BAGELS in the area…

BAGELS AND… Boynton Beach Blvd & Jog Rd (the Fountains)
BAGELS AND… Hypoluxo & Jog (next to Dominics)

AND their BIALYS are even BETTER!!!!!

    • Leno says:

Mike is right. The super egg onions are excellent.

NY who cares. I 95 goes both ways.

    • Don says:

Bagels & has impressed every New Yorker that I have ever taken there. Great place for Bagels. Maybe Water company can get stimulus money by calling itself a Green business.

  11. Oh brother...... says:

How stupid can you get. “Water” has nothing to do with how bagels or pizza cook or taste. That’s ridiculous. Furthermore, bagels from Brooklyn are no different than bagels from anywhere else. There’s plenty of GREAT bagels here in our area already.
Not to mention that if you buy “Ray’s” bagels at Publix you’ll get a superb bagel as well(just Google “Ray’s Bagels” and you’ll see what I mean).
Now we have yet another jerk opening up a business here so that they can take advantage of the dummies that think this “it’s in the water” myth is real.
I wouldn’t step foot in this place – it’s embarassing!

  12. Susan & Artie says:

Best of Luck to All! If this takes off, maybe you can open a store in Myrtle Beach! (I need whole wheat bagels, though!!!)

    Hello All including Tory Malmer:

We awoke extra early this morning with the hopes of walking into a new breakfast location for my family. When we arrived at “Brooklyn Water Bagel” they were not opened for business OR the first 100 customers. To my surprise the manager came out with a menu, no apology though, and stated we OPEN TOMORROW! So either this article is a fountain of miss information OR the restaurant lacks in customer service.

    NO BAGELS FOR YOU

The article says that they are opening on the 10th.

    Today’s the 9th, stupid.

  15. iris says:

Jay Ross’s comment was hysterical and so true I laughed till my stomach hurt Very very funny Sadly very very true

  16. I have been saying for years that the pizza and bagels need good old BROOKLYN water to make the best tasting. If I had the money I had found a place (and amazing it was also in Delray) but couldn’t get anyone to back me. I have another great idea.
Lots of luck we know whats good and you will surprise everyone.

    Kudos to BROOKLYN

  17. Alyssa says:

What part of the, it’s opening on August 10th, is confusing to you? That’s why they’re not open for business cause the grand opening is tomorrow. Not the author’s fault that you read the information in the article incorrectly.

  18. Bensonhursted says:

Oi Vey! Yes, the water does make a difference. I am a little suspicious of the claim that they can exactly replicate the Brooklyn water from any water system. Translation: we use a water softener.

  19. Bensonhursted says:

Now there is someplace else to get run over by old people besides The Boys produce market in Delray.

  20. Oh brother...... says:

That’s because the article says they will be opening on August 10th, which is tomorrow, Einstein!

  21. Jim Jackman says:

The Brooklyn Bagel Water Co. will be a huge success. There is nothing like a NY tasting bagel. For all you who believe the water makes no difference is a complete moron, and is lacking brain cells. I heard they plan on opening up over a 1000 franchises across the country, but Delray will be the original and will set the standard for how bagels should taste.

  22. Oh brother...... says:

Oh, Jim Jackson – you, my special friend with a brain the size of a pea, are the moron extraordinaire, idiot. No, stupid, the water does NOT make any difference, el stupido.

    Quoting Imbecile:
“For all you who believe the water makes no difference is a complete moron”…..

Read what you wrote, crap-for-brains. You’re illiterate. Yo usay WE’RE “lacking brain cells”? Whoaaa. You’re really a whack-job.

“There is nothing like a NY tasting bagel.”

Sure there is. Any good bagel anywhere they make them in the whole country is just as good or better. Pizza, too. Dunce.

  23. Oh brother...... says:

    ….or Jack Jickman….Jock Jackjerk…..whatever….

  24. Oh brother...... says:

    …Jack Jokeman….Jock Jackjerk….Jerky Jockman…….

  25. flakowitz says:

Bye Bye Flakowitz – a real DUMP! the Boca one is terrible – roach motel —- what will John Gotti do now?

  26. Kenny says:

Just got my free bagels, coffee and water. Bagels were great! Best I’ve had in Floria. I was pleasantly surprised. Anyone who thinks all bagels are the same (and pizza too) is either not a New Yorker or doesn’t appreciate the difference.

  27. Bob D says:

We already have great Brooklyb Bagels in Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter. The name may give you a hint its called Brooklyn Bagel and Bialy.

  28. Kenny from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn says:

Born and raised in Brooklyn, I have been to a bagel shop almost daily. Just returned from my 15 mile trip to try their bagels. Very cool how you can watch the process of bagels being made as you wait in the (long) line. The counter is setup very much like a fast food service counter, which is a little impersonal. I really felt like I was at McDonalds because of the POS system. As for the bagels, they ran out of cinammon raisin, which was disappointing. I picked up a few egg and onion. I ate one egg bagel on site with cream cheese. In Brooklyn, when you order this, it’s more of a cream cheese sandwich, and the cream cheese just oozes out everywhere with each bite. It wasn’t so at this restaurant. There was very little cream cheese. Also, NONE of my bagels were hot, not even warm. I find this hard to believe as this is their grand opening morning and I was there at around 9:30am. Also, every one of my bagels feel like day old bagels because they are all hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. Anyone from Brooklyn would expect the bagel to be soft and warm. The bagel tasted just fine, though. Maybe they’re just not putting to much care into the production today because of the enormous volume. Also, I bought a few bottles of their branded water. I have to admit it was very good and reminiscent of Brooklyn water. Note that they do not truck down their water. Rather they produce it on site with a special process to replicate Brooklyn’s great water. I wish them good luck and hope they hear our suggestions, even though they are about 20 yrs late in getting down here!

  29. John Leanza says:

Sorry, it anit a brooklyn bagel, just a bad one

  30. Bob M says:

All you people who just love to put old people down should be advised that you will not stay young forever. So,if you see a physically impaired person trying enter a doorway in a restaurant make G-D proud of you /Hold the door for them. And,as for the idiotic remarks about nickels and dimes, well, if a set price is posted for an item there will be no bargaining. THAT’s the price. Oh,how many of you have taken Splenda, sweet’nlow or anything else off of a table? C’mon,be truthful! I would also state that this website is NOT to leave nasties to anyone. If you didn’t like bagels go to BJ’S. It’s $3.49 for 9 bagels. Be nice, people. Some day you will be old and won’t even be able to bite into a bagle.

  31. Jim Jackman says:

The bagels and the coffee were as good as advertised. The owner Mr. Fassberg is an absolute genius for being able to replicate NY style tasting bagels in Florida. I look forward to his opening up more stores across the country.

  32. jeffy says:

Good Job !!!! The proof is in the taste and quality….I tried them and they are great…just like back home!!!! smooth out the problem of running out of the bagels and I think you have a home run!!!

  33. sh says:

I’ve eaten about 5 of their bagels in the past few days; best I’ve had in S. FL and I’ve had quite a few. Weather you think it’s the water, the air, the humidity, ….. you should give it a try; I think you’ll be hooked. Good tuna and chicken salad as well; great coffee.

  34. juliette says:

I tried to eat there today but after 15 minutes in line and still 15 people in front I was not prepared to wait any longer. They need to redevise their system of a line for take out and a line for eat in. A bagel is not worth waiting half an hour for. I think if they went to waitress service rather than counter service that would also speed things up. The parking lot is small and if everyone is in line for over 30 mins and then has to wait for their food to be brought to their table then there will be no turnover in the parking lot.

  35. Philsy says:

I went today for the first time. What a gigantic disappointment. “Sorry, sir out toaster is broken.”

Hard to believe a bagel joint doesn’t make provision for their broken toaster.

If necessary, go out and buy one or bring one from home. Don’t ever be without a toaster for those who like their bagels toasted.

  36. Bagel Brothers says:

If anybody is in the Port St. Lucie area, stop by Bagel Brothers of New York located in Tradition off of I-95, we have the best bagels around. We have 20 legitimate years in the business, and our slogan is ” It Aint The Water ” so i don’t know what the big hype is. We actually shipped the water back to NY and made them in our location there, just to prove the point. Its called having a great recipe !!!!! Stop by you wont be disappointed.

  37. sh says:

    Read review on link:

    http://www.seriouseats.com/2009/08/brooklyn-water-bagels-in-delray-beach-fl-florida.html

Lines and kinks should be improved now after two weeks.

  38. Joe Bagel says:

You guys are all retarded if you believe “water” makes a bagel taste completely different. Listen as long as you have a good recipe you can boil them in piss and get a good bagel. Get a life

  39. Too good dude! I enjoyed!!
