IRONWOOD STEAKS & SEAFOOD:
The Ironwood Grille at the PGA National Resort is now Ironwood Steaks & Seafood. Same handsome decor. Same terrific executive chef (Gordon Maybury). With the change in name comes an emphasis on signature steaks and lobster dishes.
Maybury drives his modern American steak house concept with a menu that includes a mega-steak he calls the “Tomahawk for Two,” a 32-ounce cross of Waygu and Black Angus beef that has been dry-aged for 21 days, then cooked at 1,200 degrees in the restaurant’s Vulcan 1200 broiler. He’s also added a crab-stuffed Maine lobster and locally caught wahoo.
OPENINGS
GRIMALDI’S ON CLEMATIS:
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, which recently opened its newest location on Clematis Street in downtown West Palm Beach, started serving lunch last week. Just as the Brooklyn pizzeria chain’s shop in Palm Beach Gardens (Downtown at the Gardens), the new location serves hand-tossed, thin-crust pizza that’s coal-fired in a brick oven.
Grimaldi’s Pizzeria: 1 N. Clematis St., West Palm Beach. Phone: (561) 833-8787.
ZINGER’S DELICATESSEN:
Gary Zinger’s beloved Pastrami Queen deli has been closed for over a year now, but it’s New York essence is back in the same spot at Zinger’s new eatery, Zinger’s Delicatessen. On the menu: homemade soups, deli meats, knishes, potato pancake latke tots and bread baked in house daily.
Zinger’s is open Monday though Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
MRS. SMOKEYS REAL PIT BAR-B-Q:
The quaint Lake Park spot once inhabited by Simply Maria’s bakery cafe is now Mrs. Smokeys Real Pit Bar-B-Q, serving hickory-smoked ribs, pork, chicken and brisket, with homemade, secret-recipe ’cue sauce (and thin-sliced fried pickles, tater tots, soup and chili).
