A new French bistro is opening this summer at CityPlace, featuring traditional French dishes such as coq au vin, as well as continental favorites.

Carousel Can Can Café’s waitresses will be dressed as French maids, bartenders will wear corsets, and Can Can dancers will feature powdered wigs à la Marie Antoinette. The atmosphere will be Paris 1908.

Local illustrator and former Post employee Pat Crowley designed most of the graphics, and is creating an imaginative sculpture of a Can Can girl on a horse for new 8,000-square-foot restaurant and club, which will open in July on the upper level near City Cellar.

Celebrity DJ Jean Marc is handling music, which will have a European lounge vibe and extend into after-hours, when the restaurant will offer dancing and a late-night menu.

  1. I am sure you mean waiters will wear a Gilet (vests,) for a “corset” in French is something women used to wear years ago to keep the fat in and reshape their bodies!. I only wish now that some women who walk around City Place in sloppy clothes and sandals, use a corset again!.

Gilet, corset, sounds like they wont be hiring anything but female bartenders. Another south florida resturant discriminating against male bartenders.

maybe the owner will actually pay his bills and employees this time around? doubt it.

Last time I came service was O.K but I went back and the food, sevice, and entertainment was excellent! It takes time for a new resturants to get established. See you Soon!

Celebrated my birthday with some girlfriends here. The can can show was by far the best past of the evening. We loved how the dancers went around the dining room and interacted with people, they were very personable. Man those girls can kick high!! :)
