wayans-415Event Details: Ticket info, directions, more

Laughter will resonate throughout the week from Palm Beach County up to the Treasure Coast. The Palm Beach Improv welcomes Damon Wayans this weekend and Jeff Garlin on Thursday.

The Wayans family name is synonymous with comedy. Wayans, brother of actors Marlon Wayans, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Dwayne Wayans, is most fondly remembered for his three seasons as writer and costar on the Emmy Award-winning series In Living Color. His writing for the series earned him two personal Emmy nominations. In addition, he has starred in many feature films, stand-up specials and other television programs, including ABC’s My Wife and Kids.

Jeff Garlin, also visiting the Palm Beach Improv, has his share of comedy credentials as well. The multitalented comic actor is best known for his role as Jeff Greene, Larry David’s manager on the HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has extensive experience on TV and in film, most recently voicing “The Captain” in Pixar’s WALL-E. His involvement with the animated project served as a wake-up call, leading him on a quest to lessen both his physical and carbon footprint. Garlin recently released a book titled My Footprint: Carrying the Weight of the World where he discusses his journey.

On Saturday, the Irish Comedy Tour rolls into town. The boisterous trio, Derek Richards, Mike McCarthy and Jim Paquette, will perform Saturday at the Atlantic Theater in Jupiter. Native Dubliner Keith Aherne will add authentic Irish music to the show as a special guest.

Also entertaining audiences next week is David Brenner at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on Monday. In addition to his numerous accolades as a comedian, writer and filmmaker, Brenner became the most frequent guest on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson with more than 150 performances. Today, his act is based on “very” current events and he is recognized as a political pundit on news-oriented shows on CNN and the Fox Network. He has done four HBO specials, the most recent being David Brenner: Back with a Vengeance.

Last, but not least, is political humorist Mark Russell at the Lyric Theatre on Tuesday and Wednesday. For more than 30 years, armed with his signature star-spangled grand piano, Russell has taken on Democrats, Republicans and Independents with his razor-sharp song parodies that skewer the political events of the day.
