Spring seems to be lagging behind all the cold fronts this year, but at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, Hatsume, the festival celebrating the first bud of spring, blooms this weekend.

It’s the Morikami’s biggest annual event and it’s still growing. They’ve added more thundering Taiko drummers and two new acts.

The ensemble Otodama will perform arrangements of Japanese traditional folk music as well as original works, blending rhythms and harmony of jazz, Japanese and classical music. Also new, EnV, featuring twins Estefania and Valentina Crespo, a pop rock duo whose debut album Beautiful Thing has been getting raves and earning them fans worldwide.

Hatsume Fair features three stages of continuous entertainment including drumming, martial art demonstrations and children’s activities. Anime at Hatsume features dealers and presentations on anime history, travel to Japan, Japanese folk tales and more. A cosplay contest — costume play — invites guests to dress up as their favorite anime character or action figure. The more outrageous and colorful, the better!

Artisan booths, plant sales, Asian and American food vendors and The Kirin Beer Garden offer options for everyone.

When: 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Where: The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach.
