UPDATE: Reflects decision made to change guest referees from Frank Sorrentino to former Miami and Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin.
Jeremy Loper knows his way around a fight. He’s also got the smack-talk part down.
When asked about the training methods of his opponent, Michael Lohan, in Saturday’s upcoming celebrity boxing match in Fort Lauderdale, Loper – known more as the co-host of 103.1 The Buzz’s morning show, Loper and Randi – was pretty quick.
“I know (Lohan’s) training style is chain-smoking,” Loper said in a telephone interview on Thursday. “The guy is a nervous wreck. Come fight night, I think my fists will be piercing the illusion up there.”
Loper actually is quite experienced going into battle – he’s a black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate. And he warned Lohan – the father of Lindsay Lohan and her sisters — that he will show little mercy.
“My fists will be pounding on him like the waves did to Lindsay last week – and they knocked her top off,” Loper said.
In all seriousness, Loper’s appearance at the fight, which will be at the Ocean Manor Resort (4040 Galt Ocean Drive in Fort Lauderdale), will be helping some local charities. The fight itself will assist InspirationsYouth.com, a teen drug rehab clinic, while Loper said he’s donating his appearance fee to the Waterfront Warriors, a group that assists veterans who can’t get the medical care they need.
In addition, Loper said he’s dedicating the fight to the people in Palm Beach County Fire-Rescue and the City of West Palm Beach Police and Fire-Rescue departments.
“I’m doing this for the men and women in uniform,” Loper said.
In addition to Lohan and Loper, another celebrity will be stopping in to help with the fight. Michael Irvin, the former University of Miami/Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver, will be keeping things within whatever rules there might be.
Originally, Frank Sorrentino – Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino’s father — was to be the referee. However, during a press conference Thursday, things got so heated between Lohan and Sorrentino — who’ve had a few words between them in the past — that the powers that be decided to bring Irvin in instead.
Meanwhile, Loper said he’s received a little bit of surprising support in his corner.
“Yeah, I heard from Dina Lohan (Michael’s ex-wife/Lindsay’s mom),” he said. “She said she’ll be giving her support to me, which is more support than Michael’s given his family in five years.”

I am familiar with loper and his fighting style. I will take Loper in this fight, but challange the winner. Loper and I are boys but I think he has lost sight of that. I would love to put a true beating into him to make him know once again who his friends are. A CELEBRATION will be had! -VC
