If this pepper spraying of the Christ child isn’t religious bias, I don’t know what is. Sure, call it a “gag” and that makes it ok.
What passes for humor today is just aggressive put downs of other peoples’ beliefs.
This wouldn’t fly if it was a “gag” about gays, blacks, hispanics, koreans, chinese etc…
