UPDATE: Info about the kind of courses we chose — regulation-size, as opposed to par-3 courses

I remember when I first moved here that I heard Palm Beach County had the most golf courses of any county in the United States. It certainly is known as a golf mecca.

And while some great courses are behind gates and come with big membership fees, others are wide open to the public — just a greens fee, maybe a cart fee if you’re so inclined, and you’re pretty much on your way.

We’d like to know your favorite local public course. What’s the place you love to try and shave a few shots off your handicap?

Our list comes straight from golflink.com, so if you don’t see your favorite on here, click “other” and give your place a write-in vote. (Keep in mind, it’s gotta be a public course.)

In addition, we’ve chosen only regular-length courses, rather than par-3s. We think par-3s deserve their own poll, and we’ll do that later on.

We’ll let you know the results on Monday.

    what about “affordable”?
I have played a few of the most expensive only 1-2 times… in 10 years! I have to wait for coupons etc.. .
You should have asked ” whats the best affordable course”.

Bologna El Nino! You cannot not get a morning tee time in season on Saturday, but in the summer after 3pm you can play it for 35 bucks including cart.

I was born and raised in South Florida. I now live in Ocala. Without a doubt the biggest thing I miss down there are the great golf courses. W.P.B. and N.P.B. C.C. are the best.

Amazing how many public golf courses we have here but not a single solitary place to ride an off road vehicle in Palm Beach County. Not even one single private track or piece of dirt that is available. Very Lame….

  6. What about the Palm Beach Par 3? Probably the most scenic golf course in South Florida!

We love the PB Par 3! However — we decided that we wanted to do the Par-3 courses around here separately. Regular courses this time.

I like to play at Old Marsh Golf Club because there is always the remote possibility of hitting the General Manager in the head with a ball which would be awesome!!

The best and most bang for the buck is The Florida Club in Stuart. NPBCC is way to over priced. Just ask the members that left. I would say about 50% of them bailed and went o Eastpoint which is a very nice semi private coarse.NPBCC did a great thing by refurbishing the old coarse but then they raised there fees and the place went to the crapper. Golfnow.com is the best place to find the best bargins. Give these places your email and you will get certificates for money off playing. Swing away.
