The Palm Beach Post

Well that was weird.
I just came back from a vacation which included no gaming or blogging at all. It wasn’t a bad vacation – I had bacon with every meal – but I definitely felt more like Diana Prince than Wonder Woman.
So now I’m back from vacation and while there are bills at home and hundreds of communiques to deal with at work, there’s also Fallout 3, the New Xbox Experience, and my faithful robe.
Part of being at work means keeping up with professional literature. This used to involve poring over long articles dealing with the inability of the Dewey Decimal System to properly catalog the mating rituals of the early Etruscans, but now it’s all about blogs.
A Washington City Paper story making the rounds is about how West End Library wants to do more to attract the affluent parts of the community and be less welcoming to the riffraff. Library Manager Edward Robinson-El also asks that no Kryptonite be brought into the library.
Since libraries are using video games to attract teens, the.effing.librarian suggests something similar to lure the upper crust:
Waltz Waltz Revolution (WWR), which is a slower, richer, whiter version of the classic DDR or World of WASPcraft,, where the older, richer, whiter patrons can rule the lands of 5-star hotels and Swiss banks as a “half-Mage, half-Corporate Litigator” with +9 Intimidation and Unlimited Credit.”
Anyway it’s good to be back. Now I need to see what the Annoyed Librarian has been up to.
