A man who says he is the ex-boyfriend of Ruhama Buni Canellis, the newlywed wife of former priest Alberto Cutié, is suing the couple and the Biscayne Park Police Department.

In a lawsuit filed in Miami-Dade Circuit Court, Maxi Paulus Ratunuman, 44, says Biscayne Park police arrested him without cause on June 6 while he was installing floor tiles in a customer’s house on Griffing Boulevard in Biscayne Park. The reason: Ratunuman, who the lawsuit says lived with Canellis in the Biscayne Park area for three years and helped raise her teenage son, had information “that would bode badly” for her and Cutié, who wanted to get him out of the picture.

County records show that Biscayne Park police Officer Antonio Sanchez, named in the suit along with Officer Raimundo Atesiano, arrested Ratunuman on trespassing charges.

Ratunuman, a native of Indonesia, is being held at the Metro West Detention Center on an immigration hold. He also faces charges of driving with an expired license. He goes to trial July 15.

Ratunuman and Canellis “planned to be married and have children,” according to the lawsuit. Ratunuman paid the house’s mortgage because Canellis “could not afford the residence on her own,” but she then “began cheating with” Cutié.

The lawsuit does not say when that happened, but Cutié has said he and Canellis became romantically involved two years ago. The lawsuit also does not say what damaging information Ratunuman has on the couple. Ratunuman asks for $15,000 in the lawsuit for “mental anguish, loss of income and earning capacity” and for the costs of mortgage payments and home remodeling that Canellis allegedly promised to pay back.

Records also show Canellis bought a two-bedroom house at 10951 NE Third Ave., near Biscayne Park, in 2003 and sold it in 2007 for $180,000.

Sanchez declined to comment Tuesday, and a phone call made to Ratunuman’s attorneys at Fort Lauderdale law office Goldman and Hellman was not returned.

The phone at the Miami Beach apartment currently listed as Canellis’ residence was also not answered Tuesday.

Let’s see the guy is at the Metro Detention Center I guess about to be deported and he’s suing in the United States where he is not a citizen? He’s mad because his ex started a relationship with someone else. Are you for real. Boo Hoo like we all haven’t had ex’s that decided they want to move on to someone else. Deport this guy and get him out of the United States. What a joke of a lawsuit. The lawyer should be ashamed of himself. Let’s get rid of these illegal immigrants and be done with it. So we are wasting US taxpayers dollars to file this rediculous law suit in our US courts? Am I really reading this article for what it is?? I just can’t believe our government. No wonder our taxes are so high.

Wow, is this lawsuit histerical. The guy is in the Detention Center, so we can only assume he is not a US Citizen but he’s filing law suits in US courts wasting US taxpayers money #1. Then we have to house and feed him. I can not believe a lawyer would even take this case. Send him back to Indonesia and maybe he can find a girlfriend there who will stay with him. So what if he lived with the girl and paid the mortgage, isn’t that what he’s suppose to do?? Please this kind of stuff just irritates me. Waste of tax payers dollars. Wonder where our tax dollars are spent? Not me, I just read they are being used for an Illegal to file lawsuits in our Court System which we have to pay for. Wow, what a surprise!!!

Hey, we already give illegal’s free medical, why not add legal council to that now… what kind of drugs is this guy on? I’d surely want to buy some…
