Denzel Washington, who co-stars with John Travolta in next week’s film, The Taking Of Pelham 1-2-3, says Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston are still working through the death of their son, Jett, six months ago.

“We talked a couple weeks ago for a long time, and he is doing as well as can be expected,” Washington told Us Magazine. “He is trying to work it out. It’s a tough situation.”

Travolta skipped the red carpet premiere of the new movie in Los Angeles on Thursday. (It opens in South Florida next Friday.)

Travolta’s son died of a seizure while in the Bahamas in January.

Washington has nothing but praise for Travolta: “He is a wonderful actor and an even better human being.”
