Angelina Jolie reconnected with her estranged father Jon Voight while filming on location in Italy.

The 34-year-old actress and her actor father were spotted getting off a taxi boat in Venice, according to TMZ. The pair have not been seen in public often since Jolie’s 2002 comment, “My father and I don’t speak. I don’t hold any anger toward him. I don’t believe that somebody’s family becomes their blood. Because my son’s adopted, and families are earned.”

Jolie is in Italy filming “The Tourist.” Long-time partner Brad Pitt and their children were also spotted with her over the weekend.

Earlier this month, Jolie, who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, visited the Dominican Republic to visit Haitian children being treating at the local hospitals. I n addition to meeting with earthquake victims, she also met with Dominican President Leonel Fernandez. “It is incredibly horrible to see a catastrophe of this size hit a people who have been suffering from extreme poverty, violence and unrest for so many decades,” she said.
