Former Bachelor and Dancing With the Stars contestant Melissa Rycroft is expecting her first child with husband Tye Strickland in February.

“It was a shock. We weren’t even trying,” she said.

The 27-year-old may not be a Bachelor success story — she was publicly dumped by her former fiancé, Bachelor star Jason Mesnick after he stated that he was still in love with runner-up Molly Malaney. But Rycroft made her own luck when she got back together with former flame Tye Strickland. The couple wed in December 2009.

She told Us magazine that starting a family was the last thing on her mind. “He wanted the kids right away, and I was laughing at him going, ‘No, not ready!’”

The reality star will be back on the small screen as the co-host of The Bachelor Pad, which premieres August 9.
