Director/producer Barry Sonnenfeld told Showbiz411.com that Smith and Jones have signed on for the multi-dimensional sequel. All the project needs now is a script. The Web site predicts that the latest addition to blockbuster sci-fi franchise will hit theaters sometime in Summer 2011.

3-D TV: Seeing Beyond the Hype

Men in Black is the latest in a number of film franchises using the eye-popping technology to boost ticket sales. Next month, the fourth Shrek feature, Shrek Forever After, hits theaters in 3-D, and later this summer, Pixar’s highly anticipated Toy Story 3 gets the 3-D treatment.

But the in-your-face effect isn’t relegated to just animated and blockbuster films. A gore-filled re-imagining of the 1978 horror flick Piranha, appropriately titled Piranha 3-D, will chomp its way into theaters this August.
