This is The Explorers Club, of Charleston, South Carolina. They’re in a rock band. And they’re homeless. Please help them.

No, this isn’t the start of one of those “What do you call a drummer whose girlfriend has kicked him out?” jokes. It’s a plea from this nifty collective of Brian Wilson-possessed lads (www.myspace.com/explorersclub) who USA Today named as a top pick in 2008. They were supposed to be playing at the Atlantic Theater in Jupiter in June 20, but the theater cancelled their music series, and Jeff Shalloway, the local promoter, is frantic to find their show a home.

“Crawdaddy (magazine) and The Village Voice have also given them very favorable reviews. I booked them for Sat. June 20th., the first day of summer, and Brian Wilson’s B-day,” Shalloway writes. (How’s that for spooky coincidence?) “They booked three additional Florida gigs around my show. They play Gainesville on the 17th, Orlando on the 18th, and Tampa on the 19th.”

If you or someone you know owns a club and wants a fun, classically inspired group of guys to play there on June 20th, please contact the Pop Shop care of Leslie Streeter at lstreeter@pbpost.com.

Thanks for helping another group of musicians stay employed and off their girlfriend’s couches.
