Trent Reznor says Bonnaroo is his band’s final show in the U.S. So… when’s the reunion? (AP)

The big news at Bonnaroo 2009 went something like this:

Bruce Springsteen played a very long set, and even played “Santa Claus is Coming to Town”.

– Trent Reznor says Bonnaroo is Nine Inch Nails’ last show ever.

Attendance was up this year, which is really saying something, what with the economy and all.

Them fellas from Phish came back.

– … and Bruce went on stage with them Sunday night.

And now a few comments from the blogosphere:

• The biggest news was Bruce + Phish. Blogger Mark Graham of The New Yorker actually missed the set (Nooo!!), but the New York Times‘ commenters were happy to point to a few video snippets of the jam session.

Of course, it’s YouTube, so we’ve got it too:

(Reminds me of advice from a friend of mine who liked to play open mike nights at the Back Room when it was in Delray — Can’t go wrong with “Mustang Sally”.)

• Is NIN done? Trent Reznor says so — and unlike a lot of bands who’ll just say that to drum up ticket sales for a reunion tour a couple of years away (You know who you are), I’m inclined to believe him. Reznor can do a lot of things besides NIN, and even a band that you’re basically the sole voice of can be constraining after a good while.

• There will always be a place for Triumph the Insult Comic Dog somewhere in the world. His set at Bonnaroo was said to have matched his classic Star Wars geek set from a few years back that many look back on fondly. Just replace “geek” with “hippie”.

Here Triumph (and his “handler” Robert Smigel) interview the Yeah Yeah Yeahs:

• Finally, a few bloggers share their favorites:

1. Paste Magazine’s Julia Askenase says Band of Horses’ set met every expectation — including, apparently, the variety of beards on display.

2. The folks at Broken Headphones came for the NIN on Day 3, but actually ended up with tons of respect for bluegrass star Del McCoury. See, that’s why festivals are cool.

3. Hidden Track has a smorgasbord of links and faves, including the Beastie Boys bringing on Nas, MGMT’s sweaty tent set and moe.’s long day’s journey into night and back into day again.
