Stereogum just posted the latest from Arctic Monkeys, “Crying Lightning”, from their upcoming LP Humbug.

The Monkeys have certainly taken the dark exit on what’s likely becoming a long music road for them. They’re working with Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, and it does show on this track. Good stuff.

Humbug is scheduled to arrive August 25.

• Alt-country fans can do a little jig today as the Jayhawks’ classic lineup of Mark Olson, Gary Louris, Marc Perlman and Tim O’Reagan reunites for a tour and the band’s upcoming anthology.

Louris was with the band throughout its history, but Olson left in the late ’90s when he thought the band was succumbing to “big tour buses”.

One Response to “Arctic Monkeys’ ‘Lightning’ on a dark path”

The intro sounded like Alex Turner doing a bad Hommes impersonation, but liked it more as the song progressed and you could hear his true vocals. A more mature sound for them, good stuff indeed.
