Basically, think of Lake Worth’s Propaganda club as a giant stereo chair on Friday night. That way, you’ll be in the right frame of mind for the return of The Postmarks.
The Pompano Beach trio — singer Tim Yehezkely, guitarist Christopher Moll and drummer Jon Wilkins — bring their blissful mix of Burt Bacharach, French pop and British rock to the nearby club to debut songs from their upcoming album Memoirs at the End of the World. It comes out Aug. 25.
The first single from the LP, “Go Jetsetter”, is chilled out, but has a strong upbeat Bacharach/Brian Wilson feel, so it’s not at all languorous. Yehezkely’s breathy vocal is offset by an well-orchestrated sound, with a great beat and little hints of piano, vibraphone and trumpet. (You can listen to the single at their MySpace page.)
These guys are definitely worth seeing now while you can catch them in a more intimate venue — they will begin tours with stellastarr* and Peter Bjorn & John soon and get exposed to a much larger audience.
Also playing Saturday night are John Ralston — who also has new material out, his White Spiders EP — and Raffa & Rainer.
