Due to an unspecified injury to lead singer Steven Tyler, Aerosmith’s planned performance Monday with ZZ Top at Sunrise’s BankAtlantic Center has been canceled.

According to concert promoter Live Nation, a rescheduled date will be announced soon, and tickets will be honored at that date. More information is available at Live Nation’s Web site.

Currently, neither the band’s Web site nor www.aeroforceone.com, the band’s fan site, have any information available about the nature of Tyler’s injury.

Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, on Twitter, was clearly upset about missing some shows: “Sincere apologies out 2 all Aero Fans regarding the canceled shows. It really bums me out too- you have no idea. Pray 4 Stevens speedy return.”

Blogs and a radio station were reporting that it was some kind of muscle injury. Rolling Stone reported that fans said Tyler pulled a muscle during a June 29th show.

According to Tampa Bay Times writer Jay Cridlin, Perry called a local radio station to talk about the cancellations, which also affected a show Saturday at Tampa’s Ford Amphitheatre.

“I hate to call with bad news,” Perry told DJs at 102.5 The Bone. “I’d really much rather be playing tomorrow night.”

In other concert news:

• Rockers Cobra Starship will play Respectable Street in downtown West Palm Beach on Aug. 21. Tickets are on sale this weekend.

• On Sept. 5, the Soulfood Festival will bring together R&B classic acts like The Bar-Kays, Peabo Bryson and Lakeside to the Sunset Cove Amphitheatre in Boca Raton.

• Tickets are now on sale for Marc Anthony’s show on Oct. 24 at Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena.

For more information about upcoming shows, go to either Live Nation’s site or www.ticketmaster.com.

  1. Steve says:

Good. Maybe ZZ Top, by far the better band, will play longer.

  2. Steve says:

Don’t cancel the show. Just let ZZ Top play.

  3. Joe says:

It seems like Aerosmith is cursed or they are just getting too old to perform. Lately, they are always have to cancel shows because of a health ailment or injury. Maybe it is time for them to quit live performing!

you know what joe,.. go back to your baby bottle, and kiss my ass, you’re too young to understand anyways,… AEROSMITH jams

ZZ Top is a great band well maybe great is an understatement–they are one of the best but Aerosmith is a Legendary band. My wife and I have seen Aerosmith a half a dozen times and they never dissappoint! Aerosmith in my opinion has it all over ZZ top ( Maybe that is why ZZ Top is opening!) Anyone that says just let zz top play and skip aerosmith must have cheap seats and do not really appreciate the music of aerosmith which is audio art at it’s best!

My best to steven…Hope you feel better soon!!!

Man,,,been a long time my wife and I have went to an AREOSMITH concert and to have ZZ playing with them was going to be super special to us….July 11th,,,,,,,,29 years ago that day her and I took the plunge of marriage and played AREO’S music at our reception….we were hoping to top off our 29 yrs of marriage with this concert. We reserved motel rooms and drove all the way to Tampa saturday afternoon,,,,and didn’t hear of the cancellation till nearly 4:00 from the lady behind the desk of the motel we had reserved. So in all this has been a bummer of the most magnitude ,,,in memories ruined and lots of money put out. Well Steve I am 62 and I knew when to say its time to retire,,,,take from me ,,,you will be helping to keep people from depending on you….but otherwise ,,,,Steven ,,,KEEP ON ROCKING
    LOUIS TAYLOR ,,,,
LAST TIME I SAW AREO. WAS IN ORLANDO BACK IN THE EARLY 80′S IN THE TANGERINE BOWL,….

  6. Bill says:

  7. Rachel says:

I have seen many concerts in my life and by far, Aerosmith is the best. I never miss them when they come to town. They are awesome live!

  8. Teacher2 says:

Aerosmith is the same ole song and dance.

  9. Diane says:

I saw Aerosmith and Kiss in West Palm Beach, Florida. Steve Tylor was always my favorite band until then. I don’t like his new music and he did not play ONE of his oldies. Kiss was a much better band. I was Shocked!

  10. Tim says:

I understand about an illness or injury, but to continue to cancel shows 24 hours away stinks. I checked the internet Friday morning, nothing, drove to Tampa, at 4:00 still nothing, wife checks after dinner and the show was cancelled. If he is that injured, they know there will not be a show. Cancel the tour for x amount of weekds so that we do not waste our money, get weekend babysitters etc….Aerosmoith is a great group, but I think they have lost touch of what got them there years ago.

  11. Pete says:

man! i had meet and greets with steve and joe, but i guess not anymore
