Concert diary: JoBros in the round
There was a time, “back then,” when Lauren Morey, of the Acreage, remembers not liking the Jonas Brothers. Of course, back then is relative when you only have 7 years of life to work with.
But there she was Wednesday night in front of the BankAtlantic Center in a “Camp Rock” T-shirt bearing the Jonases’ bright shining faces and equally shiny eye shadow, on her happy way to see the JoBros’ sold-out show. Actually, “happy” is an understatement.
“We just saw the limo,” she said, in one long, giddy breath, “and my friend was like ‘Oh my God, it’s the Jonas Brothers…’ “
“…or Jordin Sparks,” clarified 7-year-old Victoria Arnold, the friend in question, referring to the American Idol-winning opening act.
Similar giddy conversations, punctuated with much screaming, abounded around the Sunrise venue Wednesday, as Joe, Kevin and Nick, the mega-popular New Jersey siblings and current Disney Channel stars, took the stage for the South Florida leg of their current world tour, in support of their 2009 album Lines, Vines and Trying Times.
For many of the young, mostly female fans waiting to see the show, this was just the latest experience in the live musical presence of the JoBros.
“This is the sixth time I’ve seen them,” explained Victoria Fernandez, 14, of Boca Raton, a Kevin Jonas fan just like her 15-year-old friend Alainna Spivack, except “he’s mine,” Victoria said, laughing. “She stole him from me.”
As cute and claim-worthy as the Jonases are, fans emphasized their musical ability, as the brothers, notably Nick, write or co-write many of their songs.
The mania surrounding the JoBros is also relatable to some of the parents like Jean Smoler, of Miami, who was there with 10-year-old daughter Camryn and friend Brooke Studnik.
It reminded Jean of her childhood crush on the recently deceased King of Pop.
“I tried to explain to her that I liked Michael Jackson like this,” Smoler said. “It would be like if Joe Jonas died.”
Camryn stared, slightly ashen.
“Heaven forbid,” she said.

these are the best photos of my favorite band EVER :)

well, jonas haters… i’m their #1 fan though.. only went to one of their concerts because they never came here before in new orleans… and i love them to death.. and i never ever disliked the jonases.. well, i never heard of them until january 07′ adn i loved them instantly.. i admit it was for looks.. but when i learned more about them.. i was more than a fan.. way more than that..
i wish i could meet them.. but that will never happen. i love them so much though :)…. i wish they would come back here again.. before i scream.. i miss them and my concert was only saturday… ugh… and i know somebody that went to 10 concerts and that’s just obsession.. when you’re a fan.. you get everything of theirs and do more… and we do much more.. much much more… so stop doing what your doing and just think a little bit.. are you a fan just because you buy a lot of their stuff or go to million of shows? or is there more to life and the jonas love than that?
