"Factory farms" are nothing more than producers trying to meet demand in an efficient manner. Efficient production does not include animals becoming unhealthy and being marked as unsuitable for human consumption. A state of unhealthiness or loss of productivity can stem from abuse, neglect, and stress. Any cause of a loss in production COSTS the entire operation thousands or more depending on the scale. That is a fact. The production of an animal involves many jobs from the veterinarian that looks after the WELFARE of the animal from before birth to death to the local employees that feed, care for, and clean up after the animals. Now 95% of our meat is coming from factory farms that do not care about you, they do not care about the animal, they do not care about anything other than money. I don't know about you but that was not how my family raised me. I would never eat meat from a factory farm. I've seen tumors on those cows and the chickens are covered in urine! So even if you like meat, even if you don't agree with PETA, you should atleast support the farmers and buy local! And that doesn't mean buy at your 'local' wal-mart.
