The official name of the show coming to BankAtlantic Center on Wed., July 29, is American Idols Live, but from the reviews so far, it might as well be called Adam Lambert Live! The glam California belter, runner-up to laid-back Arkansan Kris Allen on the most recent season of Fox’s televised talent search, is wowing the crowds with his rafters-rattling vocals on such songs as Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” and Tears For Fears’ “Mad World”.
The second-place finisher is so popular, he appears to be stealing the spotlight from Allen, as well as such favorites as scratchy-voiced soul man Danny Gokey and scratchy-voiced rocker Allison Iraheta. So, if you’re fans of those people, you might wanna go cheer and make them feel better amid all the chants of “ADAM! ADAM!”
What: American Idols Live
When: 7 p.m., July 29
Where: BankAtlantic Center, Sunrise
Phone: (800) 745-3000

Adam and Allison were epiiiiic. Whole Lotta Love, Slowride and MW are UNREAL live. Love Kris to pieces too, his set was solid. People are saying the energy levels went down after Adam’s set before Kris’ but I thought it was a good balance. I like leaving on a high but a wind-down was just as awesome. Plus, Hey Jude is the perfect closing number.
I am sure I will enjoy the whole show but its Adam I am going to see, no doubt about it!!! He is the whole package and that is why is performance is step above all the others. Can’t wait!!
Adam is the one to watch. He is such a dynamic performer you just can’t look away. When I go to the concert it will only be to see Adam. I feel we truly are seeing the birth of another world Super Star!!!! Adam Rocks. GO ADAM!!!
This is right on the money, I’m driving over two hours just to see Adam for 10 minutes. I can only imagine how is going to be when he goes on his solo tour next year!
That’s how I felt. “If” I were to buy AI concert ticket, it is to only see Adam Lambert and no one else. Even though, it will only be about 20 minutes of the whole concert. :)
I saw (most of) the L.A. show at Staples, and it is SO worth it to go and see the fabulous and amazing Adam Lambert, even though his part of the show is waaaay too short. It’s also worth it to see Allison (who is awesome) and at least a little bit of Kris, who is in the worst slot in the world to be following Adam but does the best he can. Of the other people I caught (came late) I kind of liked Anoop Desai, who has a cute Justin Timberlake/boy band type vibe going, and the “dueling pianos” moment is nice. Other than that, eh. unspontaneous, really boring.
And Adam is so far beyond everyone else it’s just ridiculous. He’s incredible. So, my recommendation would be — GO! The tour hasn’t been sold out so I bet you can still get a ticket at regular price from TicketMaster.
Adam stands head and shoulders above everyone else. He blew everyone else away all season, and now he’s doing the same thing on tour. The show really should be called Adam Lambert Live! He’s the only reason I’m going. Some of the others are good, but I wouldn’t spend money to see them perform live. I spent a fortune on my ticket (front and center) just to see Adam. I have never spent so much money on a concert ticket ever (and I’ve seen plenty). I know it will be worth every penny. Adam is a superstar in the making and the world has taken notice.
Adam’s vocal and stage performance is why he’s stealing the show this year! Got my blue sticks and glitter ready!!
This is so true. Adam is practically the headliner of the tour. He is just in a totally different league compared to the other 9. The rest might as well be the opening acts for Adam, including the winner, so Kris’ set wouldn’t feel so anticlimactic following Adam.
adam rocks–can’t wait for his first solo tour!!!
Adam was crazy to watch. For those who haven’t gone yet you will realize everytime he comes on stage how much the energy of the crowd changes! When he comes on his set and comes on stage everyone went nuts!!!!!!! Girls were crying in front of me and one girl was being held up by her friends! I was laughing it was so nuts! His voice with that register is amazing. He starts dancing and more freaking out by the crowd. He drops his jacket off his shoulders and I swear I thought you could hear people gasp and then go nuts! He seriously drops his jacket and everyone was freaking out and he hadn’t even started singing yet! It is wonderful. I can’t wait for his album. I felt bad for Kris who had to follow him the crowd was definately a whole lot quieter. But I thought he did well. I felt like he was doing a lullaby after all of that excitement. So it went okay.
I’m telling you all Adam Lambert needs to do is get a buff body like Ryan Renolds and he will be unstoppable. That guy is amazing in concert! Live he is sick with talent and no one can touch that! His dancing is like a tease to guys, gals, everyone. It is sexy and gets everyone in the mood for whatever they are into. It is a great concert. Wanna Whole Lot Of LOVE was a show stopper!!!!! The guy is a rock legend in the making. He needs to be in movies! He needs a tour! He needs to perform videos of his songs. Love this guy.
Why on Earth does Adam need a body like Ryan Reynolds? Give me strength! Talk about stereotypical Mr Gay Universe.
Adam has a body and face to die for as it is. If anything, he’s on the slim side for his height, and how small his hips and legs are is accentuated by how broad his shoulders already are but, good God, no, he doesn’t need to bulk up.
Seeing the crowd reactions in the shows so far, where about 75% of the crowd seems to be there to see one man and one man only, and it’s not the winner, and the marked difference at the Arkansas show where though there was still a lot of enthusiasm for Adam, the crowd was about 90% for Kris, I challenge anyone to carry on denying that the Arkansas voters and their overactive texting fingers did not skew the result. Adam is very obviously the hugely more popular one across the country.
People shouldn’t be surprised at the reaction that Adam got in Utah. He more often than not won that state. In fact, I had to laugh at a woman in the Utah crowd who said she wished he wasn’t being so respectful and hadn’t toned his act down. Likewise, the southern states. After Michael left, Adam won the voting in Texas all but one week. The only southern state Adam didn’t consistently win was Arkansas ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, surprise surprise!!!
I do feel a little bit sorry for Kris. He’s a nice guy who has been put in the most difficult and awkward of positions by his well-meaning friends who started the “Kris Allen must win” campaign and his overzealous compatriots who followed.
Adam isn’t just excellent amongst talent show contestants. He is an exceptional talent by any standards. Whilst there are great singers, great performers, charismatic personalities and so on, it is rare to get all that in one package, let alone in one as easy on the eye as on the ear.
I agree with everyone. Adam is a superstar already and he has not even started his own tour yet. His fans will have alot to look forward to from his concerts, videos, albums, modeling gigs, movies, make up and clothing line. The skys the limit. It is all so exciting and I can’t wait to go on this wonderful, exciting ride with Adam.
Adam is not “appearing” to steal the spotlight. He IS stealing the spotlight. I went to the Tacoma show and it was awesome. Wish I could go again. Keep up the good work Idols and rest up Adam.
Adam is the headliner and i hate to say it because its dead and gone but it really makes me wonder about the voting for Idol…Arkansas did you distort the votes????
Adam doesn’t need a Ryan Reynolds body, his body is perfect, and he’s perfect just the way he is!! I can’t get over how good he was in concert, his voice, his magnetism, his…. everything!!
Adam is the only Idol.. we all know that!
I’m going to see Adam. I think I will be pleasantly surprised (from what I’ve read about earlier concerts) to like some of the others more than I expect. But Adam is the headliner for me — I would definitely not be going if he were not there. Can’t wait!
Adam is so worth my $200.00 tickets for my neice and I even if he is on the stage for what 15 minutes? I could care less about everyone else, just want to go see the very talented Mr. Adam Lambert!!!!!!! SUPERSTAR!!!!!!
Don’t miss this show![Don't miss Adam I mean] Believe it when everyone says it is worth it. I rode five hours on a train to see the show [Adam] in Sacramento if I had a ticket I would fly to Florida…
the best twenty minutes you may have this year! It has been almost a week since I had my 20 minutes and I am still not over it.
I thank the universe and its creative beings for You Tube.
I saw Adam in Dallas and I was a little worried that being in Michael’s hometown and in the South that he wouldn’t get the love. Boy was I wrong! Dallas was totally crazy for Adam which made me realize he can win over ANY crowd ANYWHERE. I even read that he got the loudest applause in Utah. MORMON COUNTRY! He is a total superstar. I paid $180/ticket for my floor seats on StubHub and I would gladly do it again.
I feel like this is a really special time where we’re getting to see a Superstar being born. He is AMAZING. It doesn’t matter that he finished 2nd place, in my eyes he won!
I paid $300 to have 6th row seats to see Adam in August. I cannot wait. I really don’t care about the others, they are just a distraction. I google Adam daily, watch him on youtube daily, and scout for any magazine he might be in. He is perfect just the way he is and I hope he doesn’t get overwhelmed by all the fame. We love you just the way you are!! You are loved around the world.
Just saw him in concert last night in south , fl. He is worth every penny. Enjoy the show : )
I cannot wait to see Adam live on his first solo tour in UK. Hope it’s next year. I am an english fan over here still trying to figure out how Adam did not win Idol….I am truly confused. He is the most talented and charismatic performer alive today in my opinion.
I just got my tix from StubSearch last nite – 7th row from the stage for tmw nite’s concert…Seeing all the other concert videos & knowing how close 2 him I will be, is making me CRAZY!!! I am going to have ADAMGASMS GALORE!!! He is SOOOO worth it & I got my tix for $97 each – no bad….Can’t w8
Oh, Go! Go! I attended the Dallas show and it was great. Each and every one sang great and looked great as well! When Adam came on 3 giant girls stood up in front of me and blocked much of my view of my fav and I had to bend and stretch to look around them. Adam’s set seemed to fly by in minutes and wasn’t nearly long enough for me. Awesome! If you want to try to get an autograph try asking a doorman or guard where the line up is. They will most likely know. They certainly did at American Airlines Center and did not steer us wrong. I was sorry I did not make plans to follow the tour up to Oklahoma. My best wishes for all the Idols, and to Adam, my love as well. It was sooo worth it. Don’t forget your binoculars!
You people sound obsessed with Adam?!?! Lol
Though the guy does have more talent and charisma than anyone I’ve seen in the last 20yrs. Last guy I remember to create this kind of buzz was axl rose doing sweet child o mine w the real guns.
For over 30 years, I have waited for someone to come along that had that special something that Elvis had. There have been many great singers with charisma, but they still didn’t have what Elvis had. Until Adam Lambert took the stage. I saw him live and he totally shook my world up. I feel so honored to have seen the birth of a super star.
I am going to see Adam in St. Louis on August 29. I paid 175.00 for my second row seat. I am gaga over Adam. I am 56 years old, have watched all 8 seasons of AI and have never had an inkling to go to an Idol concert till Adam. BELEE DAT!
