The last time Marilyn Manson played South Florida … let’s see. It was August. He played the Sound Advice Amphitheatre. And Slayer opened for him.

So on Wednesday… it’s August… and he’s playing the Cruzan (formerly Sound Advice) Amphitheatre… and SLAYER’S OPENING!

Actually, it’s more than just Slayer — Manson’s the last act on the all-day bill of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. And yeah, Slayer does come on right before them, but they follow six hours of metal before that.

Among the bands playing in the sunshine are Trivium, Bullet for My Valentine, Killswitch Engage, God Forbid, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse and Job For A Cowboy.

Now, it’s one thing to have a metal show with Marilyn Manson — who basically added his own cult of personality into the mix when he started — or Slayer, whose pure speed has made them legendary. A band like Trivium raises the bar even higher with technical skill and pure menace.
