Gaga's cover for Vogue Hommes Japan was taken by photographer Terry Richardson.

Lady Gaga is not one to shy away from controversy and this time she is upsetting the folks from PETA.

The pop-icon is on the cover of September’s Vogue Hommes Japan donning a raw meat dress.

“Oh, Lady Gaga’s job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body,” PETA’s President, Ingrid Newkirk, tells the Daily News.

As odd and outlandish as this might be Lady Gaga isn’t the first artist to use raw meat as a muse, in 2008 Tyra Banks went under fire for having the contestants of America’s Next Top Model do a photo shoot at a slaughterhouse where they posed with meat.

And way back in 1966 The Beatles caught heat for their album cover of Yesterday and Today where they posed with meat parts and baby dolls.

What do you think of Lady Gaga's cover?

  3. Metal Rules says:

    Lady Ca-Ca

  4. nemo says:

How can I vote against Lady GA GA. The PETA people can’t be upset about someone who is more gross, more blatent, and more in your face than they are. Can they?

  5. Educator needs an Education says:

    She got what she wanted…ATTENTION!!

Whatever your opinion, for her, it worked. Love it or hate it, she has gotten attention!!!!!!

  6. tony kline says:

I think that Lady Gaga is gorgeous and very intriguing. If I weren’t married she would definitely be dating me. Have you ever seen her off stage in an interview? She is adorable! I just love her! She is a talent above all others. Get a life Peta.

  10. larry says:

Check out this stupid video PETA made: http://meat.org

  11. noneyourbusiness says:

This is stupid…plus PETA can shut the hell up. Animal rights? yeah ok, they also kill hundreds of dogs everyday. So screw them.

  12. Victoria Griffin says:

Is PETA stupid? Lady Gaga is way too smart to be wearing this meat dress purely to be be outlandish. There is always a message in everything she does and this is no exception. When you look at this meat dress you are seeing the reality of the fur industry and any animal slaughtering industry for that matter. The animal is just as dead wether you are wearing the fur off it’s back or it’s muscle matter. The simple matter at hand is that we don’t like to visually see the death and murderous reality animals must withstand. PETA should be happy Lady Gaga wore this dress. It probably grossed a few people into becomming vegetarians.

    • Layton says:

You’re ignorant. People see raw meat all the time and it doesn’t “gross” them into becoming a vegetarian. Also, her message had nothing to due with animals or animal rights what so ever- She admitted it herself. She thinks she can get away with anything and I find her so desperate for attention that it’s disgusting.

      • Meathead says:

Actually, Layton, you’re the ignorant one. While I disagree with Victoria about the actual message Lady Gaga was trying to send, Gaga was certainly trying to send a message. She’s a PR genius, and she does get attention in a lot of ways–that’s what pop starts do. Wake up. She does it better than anyone. To me, the meat was symbolic of how popstars are just that: meat on sale for consumption by the masses. Get your head out of the sand, and get off your high horse.

  13. Meathead says:

Back on topic, I think PETA has very good intentions, but their way of “getting attention” is no better than the tactics of a popstar. They make more enemies than friends through these methods.

  14. Offended says:

How can people think this is normal? I’m sorry but talented seems to be getting confused with freak these days. I will admit she has a good voice and her unique songs/sound give her reason enough to win awards, but there are many ways to dress “uniquely” without offending people. So why pick an outfit that does?

  15. catie says:

To be honest, I think this is gross but it doesn’t offend me in the slightest. This IS Lady Gaga we’re talking about and there was a political point to what she was doing, but I forget what it is. Something like “I’ll where a meat dress when they do something or other”. She’s not just doing it for no reason :L x

  16. Linh says:

I am not the biggest lady gaga fan. I don’t like her music at all. But this picture to me just seems like “something Gaga would do.” It doesn’t really disgust me nor do I think it’s some artistic genius. I’d have to say I think it’s pretty much equivalent to her wearing that kermit the frog outfit.

  17. Did she eat the meat afterwards? This kind of domain thing is not a big deal in ecuador.
