Where one unfortunate cancellation occurs, apparently a new show opens up.
Of Montreal lead singer Kevin Barnes is off the bill at Lake Worth-It, the local music show on Aug. 7 at Bryant Park. However, Respectable Street took advantage and Barnes will instead play a show at the downtown West Palm Beach club on Aug. 8.
Lake Worth-It is, of course, still a go with a 20-show slate, led by John Ralston & Invisible Music. Tickets are $10, but only if you buy from one of the bands — either live or by visiting them on Facebook and hitting them up. If you get the ticket at showclix.com, they’re $15. At the gates, they’re $20.
In addition, six downtown Lake Worth bars will be holding after-parties — Havana Hideout, South Shores, Little Munich, Propaganda, Kavasutra and Brogues. Depending on whom you purchase your Lake Worth-It ticket from, you could get into one of these parties for free.
Here are the bands currently on the bill besides Ralston’s group: Black Weather Shaman, Black Finger, The Jameses, Guy Harvey, Jesse Baumann, The Dewars, Everymen, Kill Now?!, Sweet Bronco, Yellow #6, The Shakers, Bladesong, The People Upstairs, Angry Pudding, Sweet Chariot, Leading the Heroes, The Ridicules, Blond Fuzz, The Hard Richards and Wayside Flyer.
• Widespread Panic visiting Miami Beach: Veteran jam band Widespread Panic is heading to the Fillmore Miami Beach on Sept. 30. Tickets for these Southern rockers are already on sale.
• La Roux’s new date: The UK electronica duo La Roux, who had to postpone their U.S. tour just as their catchy single “Bulletproof” was beginning to gain ground, will be heading across the pond after all. They will play the Culture Room on Nov. 1. Tickets for their Aug. 4 show will be accepted on the new date.
