ArtPalmBeach 2013, five days focusing on contemporary art and artists, begins with a preview today and opens to the public Friday. Its careful dealer-selection process brings the best of contemporary art to Palm Beach County each year.

More than 80 galleries representing more than 500 artists from 13 countries will have exhibit space, with painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry design, fine art glass and video all represented. In addition, 15 installations and artist project spaces designed specifically for ArtPalmBeach will delight visitors.

The lifetime accomplishments of Italian master Lino Tagliapietra will be highlighted and ArtPalmBeach will feature a one-man exhibition of major works, presented by Schantz Galleries. Tagliapietra is one of the world’s most accomplished artists working with art studio glass.

This year, ArtPalmBeach will introduce first-time exhibitors from Russia, Korea, Lebanon, China, and Argentina. Special programming includes lectures and artist meet-and-greets.

Lecture highlights include: Fifty Years in Photojournalism with Bill Eppridge, 1 p.m. Friday; The Life and Work of Lino Tagliapietra, interview and lecture, 2:30 p.m. Friday; “Albert Paley’s New York City Park Ave Project,” 1-2 p.m. Sunday. Presented by Nan Miller Gallery; Ephemera Forever by Anthony Haden-Guest, 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Edwina Sandys moderates. “Social Intercourse,” a book signing with Edwina Sandys, 3:30 p.m. ArtHouse 429 Booth, immediately following the Anthony Haden guest lecture.
