Boynton Beach’s long-awaited jellyfish art launched

By Eliot Kleinberg

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

BOYNTON BEACH —

The long-awaited release of the Boynton Beach jellyfish project took place last week. Artist Paul “Paulo” Slater’s 6-foot-tall, blue-green metal art panel, depicting a Florida jellyfish, hit the waves at 9 a.m. Friday at the boat ramp of Harvey E. Oyer Park. Boats escorted the art out to the Gulf Stream, 10 miles offshore, in hopes it will be picked up on the current. Slater had hoped to originally launch July 7 at Oceanfront Park in Ocean Ridge, but that was scrubbed because of a lack of available boats. The launch then was set for Oct. 26 but was sidetracked by Hurricane Sandy.
