On Sept. 29, join the River Center as it celebrates its fourth year with a family friendly celebration that has something for everyone – from an exclusive debut of a new shark documentary to a volunteer bake sale featuring delicious desserts. Food and beverage vendors also will be on site.

The River Center was born in 2008, fathered by the Loxahatchee River District to facilitate environmental education. The center features fresh and saltwater aquariums, interactive exhibits, and a touch tank where kids and families get up-close and personal with local marine life.

Buy a raffle ticket, and you could go home with a $250 membership to Jupiter Pointe Paddling or one of the other donated prizes and services.

Want to be a sponsor? Event sponsors, exhibitors and vendors are still being accepted. Email RiverCenter@Loxahatcheeriver.org.

Here are five reasons to say Happy Birthday, River Center:

  1. Tons of kids’ activities, provided by the Loxahatchee River District, including bounce houses, face painting, eco-awareness games, crafts and a water play area. The Jupiter Outdoor Center will have free kayak and stand up paddleboard demos along the water.
  2. Animals from Busch Wildlife Sanctuary will greet guests, and exhibitors will have environmental and water safety displays that are so much fun, kids won’t realize they’re learning.
  3. Local kids perform. Kids from Keep Flippin’ Gymnastics and Purple Dragon karate will perform throughout the day.
  4. An exclusive screening of This Is Your Ocean: Sharks, a film that explores the behavior of these mysterious predators. Jim Abernethy will preface the first showing with an introduction.
  5. Meet Professor Clark the Science Shark and children’s book creator Karen Lamberson, who will read aloud and sign books.
