MENU

Dominican and Jamaican entrees, including appetizers, soup, salads, sandwiches, chicken, pork, beef, steak, seafood, ribs, goat, oxtail stew, specialty coffees, desserts.

ATMOSPHERE

Has a club feel to it, with a large bar, dance floor and extremely plush chairs at several tables and booths. Tropical photos and Spanish-themed art line the walls. Dancing every Saturday night.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

The grilled tilapia ($9.95 for lunch portion) was expertly seasoned with zesty spices, served alongside white or yellow rice, black or red beans, fried plantains and soup or salad. The homemade Dominican soup was warm and soothing, with a combination of mixed vegetables and meats in a tasty broth base. The sweet, ripe plantains were outstanding. Shortly after we ordered, the server brought a basket of flat bread and butter and asked if we’d like to sample his curry goat dish. We liked it, but not enough to make a meal of it.

REASON TO GO

If you like authentic Latin food and drinks, this is the place to go. There’s a wide array of Dominican and Jamaican dishes and the owner is willing to let you sample unfamiliar dishes before you order. Portion sizes are extremely generous, and we took part of our lunch meals home. For families there’s a reasonably priced dinner plan to feed four.

SERVICE

Very good. There were only a few other diners in the restaurant the weekday we visited, and the server was quick to offer suggestions and deliver food. Sodas were served in a can with a glass of ice, and we spied several Latin sodas and juices in a cooler near the bar.

NOISE LEVEL

Fairly quiet the day we visited. Lively Spanish music was playing over the speakers.

KID FRIENDLY

Children can choose between grilled chicken strips, roasted chicken, grilled tilapia, grilled cheese, mac and cheese or spaghetti.
