Tapper’s serves pub grub such as pizza, burgers and wings, along with raw bar staples such as peel ‘n’ eat shrimp, coconut shrimp and oysters on the half shell.

ATMOSPHERE

Neighborhood bar. Food and drinks are served on an outdoor patio, which was breezy and comfortable during our visit but would get sweaty during the summer. Basketball games were playing on the TVs over the bar.

OUR FAVORITE FOOD/PRICE

The food was surprisingly good for a bar. The fried shrimp ($10.99) and the oysters ($6.99 for a half-dozen) were large and fresh. The pepperoni pizza ($5) tasted freshly prepared, too.

REASON TO GO

No-frills eats in a laid-back atmosphere.

SERVICE

Friendly, if a little forgetful. We had a long wait for our food as the pizza was prepared, but our server made up for it by offering a free drink. We also had to remind her to bring the fried shrimp.

NOISE LEVEL

Not bad for a bar, but the music was decidedly cheesy. We hadn’t heard so much Madonna and Loverboy since the ’80s.

KID FRIENDLY

Yes and no. It’s a bar, so it’s not a prime destination for families, but our kids were happy with a burger ($4.99) and pizza.
