The bar: Prime, Delray Beach
The vibe: Located on Delray’s bar-intensive Atlantic Avenue, Prime’s got a classy supper club thing happening - it looks like there should be a singer in an evening gown draped across a piano as waiters in white jackets hand out gin drinks from a silver tray. But it’s still approachable. The happy hour crowd is in the young professional range, and dressed to impress. This is not a crop top and booty jeans sort of a place. You kind of want to look as good as the bar does.
The drink: The Spiked Pear Martini, $8 as part of the delectable happy hour menu you’ll find below, fits the classy theme of the place - it combines the smoothness of pear with a touch of champagne. Which is, you know, classy and adds just enough lightness to make it interesting.
Other noteworthy libations: The refreshing cucumber martini, and the vodka macchiato, which you certainly will not find at your usual coffee joint unless you smuggled your flask in. Now you don’t have to.
Deals:We spoke above about the happy hour and promised to tell you more about it. So here we are. The bar bites menu includes the Prime burger sliders, the mini meatballs, the grilled cheese with prosciutto and the stuffed mushrooms, which are amazing. They’re all $8, as are the featured martinis. And for $7, there are several featured wines. Daily from 4 to 7 p.m.

Spiked Pear Martini
2 ounces Ketel 1 vodka
1/2 ounce triple sec
1/4 ounce Xante Pear liqueur
Splash sour mix
1/2 ounce Chambord
Splash champagne
Shake first four ingredients. Strain into a martini glass. Drizzle the Chambord around the inner rim so it settles on the bottom. Finish with a splash of champagne as a floater.
