At first, I’m not sure my group is hipster enough to dine at Sweetwater Bar & Grill – but my fears are chased away when my friend pulls out a pair of retro glasses and puts them on. Suddenly, we fit in.

Which is good, because Sweetwater is a place where I want to linger.

From the dimly lit bar, where crystal chandeliers coexist with sewing-machine parts, it’s the sort of bar where you could easily turn into a barfly, where you could just daydream over theenticing drink menu.

Located on the first floor of a random Boynton Beach plaza, Sweetwaterboasts a beguiling list of cocktails. In fact, the hardest decision of the evening is deciding which drink to order. We’re not in the land of a simple G-and-T, Toto.

There’s the Mexican Cockfight (reposado tequila, Del Maguey mezcal, sweet peppers, black peppercorn, agave, lime and chocolate bitters), the Root One (rye whiskey, root liquor, agave, lime, Granny Smith apple, and sweet-spice foam) and the East Third Street (aged rum, allspice dram liqueur, house-made pumpkin spice syrup, pressed apple, egg white, and some surely combustible ingredient called 151 spice flame). Let’s put it this way: cocktails that require some googling.

In addition, there’s an extensive craft beer list, including a section of triples and quads, and a small, selective wine list.

As for the food, this is a good place to go tapas style and share. We sat at the community table and almost wanted to share with our neighbors as well. My favorite dish of the night was the Famous Pulled Pork Tacos ($12) — two soft, delicious little pillows filled with house made with Korean BBQ sauce and Asian cabbage, granny smith apple salsa and wonton noodles. I could have eaten a double order.
